APC - Orestes | Reviewer: Bendix | 4/4/07

Just love this song.

I heard the live Evanescence cover of the song and from there I've been very curious who and why this song was written.

It cuts deep and full of emotion and when I realize who Orestes really is, it struck me like I've been stabbed forever.

This song has been playing on my mind over and over, and although it has a negative connotation, I love listening to it when I'm down and dealing with solitude.

Such a moving song.

Too bad not too many people knows it.
:-P

Incredible | Reviewer: Azrar | 6/2/06

Agree with the previous comment. This song is outstanding; it's mellow, yet powerful. Great riffs, excellent bass and drumming, and one of MJK's best sung songs. The singing at the end is so intense and sincere... it's wonderful.

Orestes is a character in Greek legend, who's father was killed by his mother's lover. Orestes in turn killed his mother and her lover. Hence the lyrics:

Gotta cut away, clear away
Snip away and sever this
Umbilical residue that's
Keeping me from killing you

Thereafter Orestes went mad [give me one more medicated peaceful moment], and was persued by the Erinyes (wiki: female personifications of vengeance) [And I don't wanna feel this overwhelming hostility].

All in all, a brilliant song.

Brilliant poetry | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/3/06

This is one of those rare songs that is so beautiful, so poignant, and so imbued with truth that you will find yourself remembering years after you hear... even if you only hear it once. Absolutely bloody haunting.

Genius.
