The Reviews about Judith (page 17/ 18)
------ performed by A Perfect Circle

Something Forgotten | Reviewer: Andrew | 5/3/06

It seems to me that the lyrics express a certian strong frustration with the whole christianty deal. The song blames God for putting "you"(us) in the situation that were all in, with the all the mess that is in a sense an absence of God. But I think what the song leaves out(and many of christians sadly) is one of the most fundamental christian reasons for why we are living in this world with these ugly things. Is the fact is that there is a mighty fallen angel who is determined to take us out, to extinguish that glory that we once had.

FFS! Judith is ATHEIST!!! The song is trying to get at religion.... "Prey fir jesus christ like he knows the reasons why" and "FUCK YOUR GOD", notice its YOUR god and not HIS god, thats because he wants nothing to do with it. DOnt try and twist it about and interpret it in a christian friendly way. ITs a song against religion and christianity. The reason he said "Its not like you killed someone" etc, is because he doesnt understand why people live in fear of sins that they didnt do. Notice AGAIN how he says YOU and not Its not like i killed someone. Again making it clear its not him who is bothered by the sin stuff, but the christians he is aiming it towards. Religion is wrong, end of, get over it.

God's Plan | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/27/05

I think the lyrics are trying to point out the bad logic of praying to a god for relief from something that god caused in the first place. Kind of like a religious Stockholm Syndrome.

These reviews are just as good as the song | Reviewer: dave | 8/16/05

Allready in the first vers he says that never ever shoulst to belive in christ. I think that the song is about him trying to understand why Christians belive in God when he those no longer seem to care. (yes, I know. My English is very bad)I think this song i great, the band has realy catched that feeling of being abanded. I might be wrong about this lyric but I think that the band wants you to parse the lyric how ever you want. And many of you (above) has truly found a mutch deeper mening in this lyric. Truly inspiring.
Great song! Love it.

other light. | Reviewer: Mikey | 6/6/05

Heres another perspective for you. Personally I disagree with the fact that He's totally against God here. I see this as a criticism of the way people think of God today. Many authors of modern day literature would make their views seem appaling to inspire reform and change/and encourage readers to think more in depth. There are points in the song hes pro-God. "He did it all for you.." Personally I think hes using the same satirical tecnique. And when he sings "Its not like you killed someone, its not like you drove a hateful spear into his side" Its simply condemning sin, showing us what we do when we sin. Basically summing up everything I just said...its sorta like reverse psychology. But hey that my opinion.

Maynard's feelings | Reviewer: Daniella | 5/20/05

It's not that he dosn't like god it's just that he wants to tell people how he feels.

Free expression, anyone? | Reviewer: Mark | 2/15/05

One. I believe the song is not AGAINST any religion or dogmatic practice, but an attempt to communicate why he doesn't understand some peoples' devotion to faith when their entire life has seemed hopeless and desparate.

Two. It's his opinion.

Three. He's entitled to it.

Four. If you don't like the words... don't listen.

Five. If you thought Maynard was a Christian and/or you're shocked at the language, then this must be the first thing you've ever heard from him.

Six. There is no point number 6.

questionable... | Reviewer: chelsea | 2/13/05

The lyrics in this song seem quite hateful. I love this band but when I heard this song, I was shocked at what was being said. In particular, when "f**k your God" was said. I don't know what to think about them anymore. I feel extreme guilt when I listen to this song.

Mixed Up | Reviewer: Laurent Steiger | 12/9/04

You may say that the song is talking about all religion. But you can not escape the pure fact that it does focus on Christianity. It is sad to hear that this is the way he feels about the one and only true God. He says "Its not like you killed someone, its not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side". But you know everytime we happen to do something against Gods will, and I myself have. We may as well have. It hurts to see someone you are close to turning on you in some way. The same with God.
Also it he is saying "Why do we praise a God who leaves us and abandons us? Thats a good question and I don't think he is talking about the Christianity I have grown up in. God does not leave us. We leave him. We leave him when we decide to do things our way. I just needed to clear a few things up with what he was arguing about. But he does hit one point that I do agree with. He(Christ) did it all for you(me...insert name here___________). Without the death of Jesus Christ he wouldnt have a song and I wouldnt be writing a review for it. So hopefully helps understand lyrics.
True that has some great Techniques. Vocal's are highly musical and diverse. Very nice Chords and use of modulations.

relpy to first review | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/12/04

I think what he's getting at isn't the religion itself but the dogma's surrounding them, even if he doesn't know it himself, the ways all religions have been misinterpreted and misused over the years has only served to put people off the whole thing and in some circumstances make them angry and react violently. so whilst he seems to be aiming his anger at christianity, Its really because of all the dogma and hypocrasy that has surrounded it and the way people have used its name for more than dubious causes over the years. Good men do good things, bad men do bad things, but religion makes good men do bad things, think about it, it works on so many levels. Oh and I think the songs great even If I don't agree with every word.
