@ashley | Reviewer: gunther | 7/22/2008yes, i see it the same way. and it hurts to see through it all and not to be seen. it hurts not bein in the position to assist in dissolving due to she doesn't wand to resolve. then it's time to focus on love - and perhaps time to go. however, great song.
Sounds alot like my Life | Reviewer: Ashley | 7/17/2008
Its about a girl that has been wounded in the past by others and she doesnt "see him" she sees "a name in recolletion a million the same". She just thinks of him as another guy and they are all the same.. shes a fallen angel. But, he can see through it all, through all of her past and wounds.. He can see her, before she became jaded. She can't see it though, hes expecting too much from the wounded.. even though he is making it obvious.
My interpretation | Reviewer: Ashley | 7/16/2008
I think that the song is about her not being able to see through her past to be able to trust and see him for who he really is. He can see her through it all, but she can't see him. She thinks he is like everyone else, due to the wounds of her past, shes a "fallen angel".
Another vantage point... | Reviewer: Some Austinite | 7/11/2008
O.k., for my lowly two-cents...
It seems to be about a guy, who finds a girl... ...that much I'll give to.
...but he throws her the obvious, meaning that he has used some form of metaphor or idea, that has potential for bringing out deeper thought or consideration.
And flying with it on her back, meaning that she has been 'tagged' as not being able to understand... Think of posting a piece of paper to someone's back.
A name in your recollection, meaning someone that's been passed over, who's been passed down with the millions, who are the same...
Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed, and passed over... ...meaning that his disappointment, leads to the feeling that she had no idea of what or who he is.
See you naked, but oblivious... ... to see her as the true-sense of her 'self' and her views and interpretations... Meaning, she might not be that bright. ;)
Threw you the obvious, just to see what all goes behind the eyes of a fallen angel, eyes of a tragedy... Meaning, he tried all he could to invigorate some sense of intelligence in her.
Apparently, nothing at all... Means, that she is nowhere near his level of thinking or understanding...
So, she doesn't see him at all... ...for the intelligent being, that he is. This may allude to her shallowness and lack of depth, in personal character and morals.
I could be completely wrong... Just dishing out my interpretations :)
3 libras | Reviewer: jackie | 5/23/2008
i think its more about the boyfriend keeps messing up.
the girl is hurt but only because she loves him so much.
he says he loves her but he has a very dissapionting way of showing of it.
he doesnt see how hes dissapionting her and thats why theres so much conflict.
Nah.. | Reviewer: G | 1/22/2008
I'd say this song is told in the eyes of the girl herself, who may have done this to him.
She "threw you (him) the obvious", that she was a whore, maybe something she said or did numerous times that made it obvious.
But he "Flew with it on your (his) back", meaning he did nothing about it.
Then she's expecting more out of him, maybe a response or a change from what she made obvious.
But instead he did nothing about it.
And she still throws him the obvious to see what happens behind the eyes (in his head) of a fallen angel, fallen because maybe something happened to him previously that has him stuck in the ground. And that's what makes him a tragedy. Because he still does nothing to avoid getting hurt again (maybe).
That's my interpretation.
Close, but no cigar | Reviewer: zekenmel | 1/22/2008
Jayson got the closest. Watch aMOTION people. Maynard explains it in the commentary. It's about 9 people who used him for his.....famousness (couldn't think of a better word), they were all Libras but he named the song 3 Libras to make them wonder who he was talking about. I do, however, agree with what some people say about it meaning different things to different people. It speaks to me in a way it might not to you. Love the song. Keep it up MJK!

its about a guy falling in love with a whore. fallen angel is a prostitute, and so is tragedy.
unfortunately, he fell in love with a prostitute. he tries to confess by "throwing the obvious" or telling his emotions to the girl, only to find a passive blank stare or what...
he gave him his name, and she forgets it just like all the other men he had.
and he's fucking depressed. the end.
Dancer | Reviewer: Missie | 1/20/2008
No-one has even thought about this to be about, a dancer.
Threw you the obvious(meaning money on the stage to try and get the girls attention)
A name in your recollection
Down among a million same
(A name in your recollection could mean the name that shes using on stage, Down among a million same meaning all the girls who are dancers.)
Maynard is a genius, but sometimes not all of his lyrics are about obscure things, or god or the devil, or anything, it could just be something as simple as a dancer. I mean look at the song Magdalena.
Pft | Reviewer: Sy | 1/15/2008
Listen, look, read, hear and think people. It's merely about unrequited love; guy meets girl (or guy, hey hey), guy falls, girl/guy rejects or doesn't feel the same way. All this relating to religion and stuff isn't about religion at all -- "eyes of a fallen angel" and stuff is merely a metaphor that scratches beneath the surface of their beuty and whatever. I'm drunk as I type this but even when sober this is as clear as day.
