To me its about someone hiding for one reason or another, the difference comes in, the fact that some people think they are not hiding from something. I believe we are all hiding. They try to "let go of the truth". they (for some reason) try to be someone they're not and they find out that "it is just a game" and that game will inevitably come to a end. It's a beautiful lie because the person is afraid to show himself to the world. To show his weakness and all the things that make him human. So, he is trying to keep up with the image of perfection and poise, but inside he is getting tired. Also, I think he is trying to forget who he was before. Maybe something happened or he did something wrong, that made him start hiding himself, and he found out he liked more the image he showed than who he really is, because he despises himself. If you hadn't noticed, I kind of relate to the song. The lyrics do mean something different to everyone I guess... to me I can hear my battle with drugs, the fact that you can create your own "beautiful lie" instead of having to deal with the reality. I'm playing a game with myself, cause I know that one day i won't be able to take much more. The thump at the end of the song is the end of the game. The end of my life. But anyway.
