I am 53 and have been thru Vietnam, both Gulf Wars, and lived in the post world war 2 and cold war period. I love the States of course it is my home and people there are generally very friendly, honest and plain good. At the same time, I think there is a certain blindness to what other countries who are much smaller go through. Most countries absolutely cannot just do whatever they want in foreigh policy. Most countries have been through far worse than 9/11 and do not make war on their neighbors because of a FEW evil and cowardly fanatics. The USA is a young and powerful country and does not have a full and complete respect of other cultures and peoples. Over and over we make the same mistakes. Has Vietnam going communist affected the USA at all? I don't think so, yet look how many people died, look how devasted Vietnam was on account of it. Still they are now friendly with us. Think of this...both India and Pakistan easily could say that the other has (and they do!) have 'weapons of mass destruction' and make a pre emptive strike. That they do not do so is an indication of their maturity, being countries of several thousand years old. I could go on and on. The government sees that if we cant all play nice then someones gotta take charge and america atm has the biggest stick, he who has the biggest stick will beat some ass. I do not always like what my government does but ill die for anyone in any country to defend the right to do what they want. and especially if you hurt my friends, family, country, freedom. Not to mention, it'll be stuck in your head for a week. Now as for the meaning of this song, it is, as most other have already noted, about Americanization. Rammstein is claiming that America is trying to take control over the world, not only with military but with our wonderful culture and so forth. America, supposedly, forces our wonderful traits down the throats of other countries; and there's no escaping it, Rammstein claims. Now to contradict themselves, Rammstein makes claims that if the other countries don't want to be Americanized, then America says "f*ck you". Uhhh well DUH!!! Isn't that what you want? America gives it's generous helping hand when needed, and other countries don't want it anymore, America says, "Ok we're done helping you." That whole contradicting part of the song is why I find this song so humorously entertaining. Another interesting point is if Rammstein is so "anti-America" wouldn't they boycott anything (or as much as possible) that is American? Evidently not. In the video for "Amerika", Rammstein ordered their space suits from where??...a German costume shop?
