Youth Lyrics - Matisyahu

Review The Song (7)

Youth

Some of them come now
Some of the running
Some of them looking for fun
Some of them looking for away out of confusion
Some of them don't know where to be
Some of them don't know where to go
Some of them trust their instincts
That somethings missing from the show
Some don't fit society
Their insides are crying low
Some of them teachers squashed the flame
'fore it had a chance to grow
Some of them embers still glow
Them charcoal hushed and low
Some of them come with hunger supressed
sponsored links
Not fed them feel the death blow, yo
CHORUS:
Young man control in your hand
Slam your fist on the table
And make your demand
Take a stand
Fan a fire for the flame of the youth
Got the freedom to choose
You better make the right move
Young man, the power's in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
You got to make the right move
"youth is the engine of the world"
Storm the halls of vanity
Focus your energy
Into a laser beam
Streaming shattered light
Unites to pierce between the seams
And it seems
The world open peering
The children see
Rapid fire for your mind
Half a truth is just a lie
They rub me the wrong way
They say their way or fall behind
Seventeen disconnect left out
The concept as to why
There's a spiritual emptiness
So the youth them get vexed
Skip class and get wrecked
Feel with beer and cigarettes
To fill the hole in their chest!

CHORUS

Youth Lyrics - Matisyahu | Reviewer: Don Aca | 4/21/13

I believe that Matisyahu is trying to get across is the conflicts between the Jews and the Muslims.
First let me start off at where Matisyahu says "Seven subjects disconect" hes talking about the Muslim
community Seven Deadly Sins which the Muslims are trying to enforced in Israel, he is telling the Jewish Youth that they have the choice to believe what they want to believe.

And where he says "So the youth then gets vexed..." I think he means the people that do believe the Seven
Deadly Sins think that thats all they have to worry about, so they go out and do exactly what it says in
the song, and that replaces their figuretive heart.

think about it | Reviewer: Lady Anaïs | 10/6/10

That's stupid. Honestly, you have to be very insecure to think this lyrics are underestimating women. Have you heard any popular music nowadays? You'll find a lot of sexism there. And almost no one takes the time to talk about youth, if they do, they only tell tragedies, but nobody goes further, no one encourages youth to search for themselves and do something positive like this song. Don't waste your time trying to twist beautiful messages, and if you as a woman feel underestimated, listen to this song, it may encourage you to do something about it.

Ridiculous | Reviewer: Danny Collins | 12/22/08

It's ridiculous to call this song sexist. He's writing music trying to send out a message, and you're taking it all wrong. It's not sexist at all. I can't believe that you'd take something with a positive message and smear it's meaning. Sit and listen to the song, it's not saying at all that women aren't equal.

That's just ridiculous.

Young man misunderstanding... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/27/07

Why, people always have to critize and judge. Matisyahu, is doing something great in the history of the music. Having catchi beats with a positive message, Something not everyone is able to do. Why? when someone wants to do something positive people still try to shoot you down. Instead of critizing you should congratulate him for spreading the message of Love instead of Hate.

Young man and woman | Reviewer: Akimoto | 3/6/07

The term 'young man' is, like 'man kind', a generical term for the youth of both sexes addressed in the song.

Furthermore, the term is present only in the chorus. This can be read as a reference to BOTH sexes, unless you want to label the singer and the song as sexist and say that it refers to only men.

Hopefully this helps clear things up. Cheers!

whatever | Reviewer: m. bicknell | 5/30/06

i liked the song till I read it and it said "youth man control in your hand, slam your fist on the table, and make your demand, take a stand, fan a fire for the flame of the youth, got the freedon to choose, you better make the right move, young man, the power's in your hand." so in he saying woman don't have the right to do the same? I think it sexest. so whatever!
