Bob Dylan You're A Big Girl Now Lyrics

Last updated: 08/19/2014 06:49:31 AM

Our conversation was short and sweet
It nearly swept me off-a my feet;
I'm back in the rain, you're on dry land.
You made it there, somehow,
You're a big girl now.

A bird’s on the horizon sitting on the fence
Singing a song at his own expense;
I'm like that bird, oh oh
Singing just for you; hoping you’ll hear
Through the tears of so many wasted years.

Time is like a jet plane, it moves so fast.
Oh, what a shame if all we've shared won't last;
I can change I swear oh oh...and you can, too.
With the Lord, together with us,
We’ll go from glory to glory, and make it through.

‘Love is so simple’, quote a phrase,
You've known it all the time; I'm learning it these days.
Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh
In somebody's room, it's a price I had to pay.
You're a big girl now, all the way.

A change in the weather is known to be extreme
But what's the sense of changing horses in midstream ?
I'm going out of my mind, oh, oh
With a pain that stops and starts,
Like a corkscrew to my heart ever since we've been apart.

I agree with the other review, that this is one of Bob Dylan's best songs. Being an intercessorer, there is a sensitivity to the pain, and passionate emotions expressed in his unique way in the sound of his voice, accompanied by his music. Therefore, it inspired the following poem written after hearing,"You're A Big Girl, Now".

Golden Silence
@2014 Glory Cloud Revelation

Yes, our conversation was sweet,
Drawing us to a place to meet
In the warm sunshine by the ocean bay,
That seems like millions of miles away.
Silence is golden while I wait
For a Simple Twist of Fate.

Oh, Im sorry to be so preoccupied,
With the millions of people who do not want to die
In a military invasion of the land we love,
That the Lord promised to His people
From heaven above.

Sometimes, I have such peace,
I dont know what to say;
Im a big girl, now, Ive learned how to pray.
To live, and love, and to forgive.
Silence is golden when youre trustin in the Lord...
Hes the only One worthy to be adored.

Still, I think of you, more
Than anyone under the sun;
Like a bird without a nest,
I want to fly with the best.
Oh, oh, how long does it take
To pass the test.

Are those tears in your eyes,
From believin jealous lies?
You wont find me in somebodys room.
I dont want to be doomed...
Im washed and Im clean,
Youre the best thing Ive ever seen.

My roof is the sky,
Terrain is the sand,
I feel like a bird with a broken wing,
Waiting for my man.

We all are changin or standin still,
When you love somebody,
I heard you never feel
Good enough, so lets not wait till we do,
If you love me, and I love you.

Oh, Im sorry to be so preoccupied,
With the millions of people who do not want to die
In a military invasion of the land we love,
That the Lord promised to His people
From heaven above.

As long as we have faith,
We can make it through,
My sweet darling, please dont cry,
See what you could do,
If you really mean it, I mean it, too.
We can make it through.

Im willing to change to please my man,
I want to make him happy, as happy as I can.
Still, I hope helll understand
Im one of the few, who has chosen to do
Things the Lords way;
Even if it takes a long time day after day;
Silently I wait....
For a change for the better in A simple twist of fate.

One of the all-time classics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/1/08

What an under-rated song. You can feel the pain and passion in this Dylan song, not unlike many of his songs. I've listened to it a thousand times over the years and it still brings the same feeling. It definitely stands at the top of all-time Dylan songs.
