The Rolling Stones You Got The Silver Lyrics

Last updated: 07/22/2014 05:51:25 PM

(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Hey babe, what's in your eyes?
I saw them flashing like airplane lights
You fill my cup, babe, that's for sure
I must come back for a little more

You got my heart you got my soul
You got the silver you got the gold
You got the diamonds from the mine
Well that's all right, it'll buy some time

Tell me, honey, what will I do
When I'm hungry and thirsty too
Feeling foolish (and that's for sure)
Just waiting here at your kitchen door?

Hey baby, what's in your eyes?
Is that the diamonds from the mine?
What's that laughing in your smile?
I don't care, no, I don't care

Oh babe, you got my soul
You got the silver you got the gold
A flash of love, just made me blind
I don't care, no, that's the big surprise

Slight correction needed? | Reviewer: Jackflash2000 | 7/22/14

A Keef Klassic. One lyric correction for the last verse: I believe the line is "If that’s your love, just leave me blind." He doesn't care if she takes his soul and all his money, he's hopelessly in love with her. Could be wrong, but that's what I hear on the "Let It Bleed" version.

I love Brian Jones' autoharp on this song.
It was only one of the two songs that he recorded on this album, which was released a few months after his death.

Interesting fact: The Stones also recorded this song with Mick Jagger on lead vocals but opted to release the song on the album with Keith singing instead.

love song | Reviewer: forest dweller | 7/7/09

Keith Richards is a poet who has given the world a masterpiece of a love song. Watching him sing this song on Shine A Light was the highlight of the film - an unforgettable, soul-lifting experience.

never hit me before untill watching shine a light just how much the lyrics meant. kieth singing & ronnie with that twang guitar sound , a personal soundtrack to my curent relationship failure. pure talent on there part, alcohol & valium on mine

great | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/13/08

I just saw yesterday the shine a light movie - and I understood more of the stones than that 20 years I loved them. And one of the most amazing performances was when Richards sang this song... the magician

Beautiful Gem | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/1/07

This song is a frequently over-looked GEM. I have been a huge fan ever since I heard Beast of Burden as a child in the 70's. Somehow I never paid any attention to this song until I read Marianne Faithfull's biography where she said Keith's most beautiful song (in her opinion) was You Got The Silver, and he wrote it, like many others during this period, for Anita. This made me go back and listen to many other songs- not just the 'Hits' and there is so much great work in there

One of Keith Richards strongest vocal performance. Stones blues roots strongly evident but original at the same time. A true gem on an album of amazing songs; Let It Bleed, possibly the best Stones album ever.
