We Are The Few Lyrics

Performed by Streetlight Manifesto
Review The Song (13)

Hey!
Mr. Gepetto: I hope this finds you well
I wrote this letter
'cause we miss you here in hell

And now I know it's hard when you don't know what to think
And every single smile is a thorn when you're waking up
You might try but you won't get by until you're crucified for all the things you try to do
And I don't care if you think I'm rude
And I don't care how you hold it in
As long as you don't bother me with all the things I don't bother you with
And 9 times out of 10 you might be right
But what about that time you know you're wrong?
Keep singing that same song
And everybody smiles but they'll never get along

I'm trying and I'm trying and I'm trying and I'm trying to let go:
But everybody's going down tonight

We are the few that won't say nothing right
We are the footsteps fading into the night
Nobody cares and nobody stares with such conviction and I say:
I never wanted this, no one ever wanted this
But they gave it to me so I might as well be proud of it
And I don't know where we went wrong
All i know now is i got to do something right

So come clean
No one should have have to live with the things you've seen
But you're living anyway
Well I stop the car and put her in park
And I step outside (god I hate this part)
When I see what I saw what I thought was a lie; it was more
Than a chore I'm just doing what I need to get by
I don't care if you leave or stay
But we might as well split
Because it's not the same as it was
When we said our last goodbye
And if you want the truth: I was hoping one of us would pass away
Because it'd be much easier then
We could all get together and think about when
We were young we were dumb we were numb but in love
And I'm done so I'm sending out this letter today

I'm trying and I'm trying and I'm trying and I'm trying to let go:
But everybody's going down tonight

We are the few that won't say nothing right
We are the footsteps fading into the night
Nobody cares and nobody stares with such conviction and I say:
I never wanted this, no one ever wanted this
But they gave it to you so you might as well be proud of it
I don't know where we went wrong
All I know now is I got to do something right

This has been the best night of my life
This has been the best night of my life
I could have lost my life
And I would have lost my mind
But now I'm fine
And I find
That this has been the best night of my life
This has been the best night of my life
(I still can't believe they had the heart to apologize)
This has been the best night of my life
(I still can't believe they had the heart to apologize)
I could have lost my life
And I would have lost my mind
But now I'm fine
And I find

That this has been the best night of my life

And as the day fades
No one investigates
Nobody answers when she calls his name
Another victim, somewhere in a shallow grave
I want to hold her and tell her: it's not your fault

Na na na...

And as the day fades
No one investigates
Nobody answers when she calls his name
Another victim, somewhere in a shallow grave
I want to hold her and tell her: it's not your fault

Na na na...
It's not your fault

We are the few that won't say nothing right
We are the footsteps fading into the night
Nobody cares and nobody stares with such conviction and I say:
I never wanted this, no one ever wanted this
But they gave it to you so you might as well be proud of it
I don't know where we went wrong
All i know now is i got to do something right

We are the few that won't say nothing right
We are the footsteps fading into the night
Nobody cares and nobody stares with such conviction and I say:
I never wanted this, no one ever wanted this
But they gave it to me so I might as well be proud of it
And I know I've done something wrong
All I know now is I got to do something... right

Tomas has said in several interviews that he, in no way, classifies Streetlight Manifesto as a ska band because of the formulaic line ups of ska music. He says he has some influence from ska bands but most of his influences are drawn from other types of music. His biggest influence as a child were the Beatles. They are what made him want to learn guitar, so he taught himself. Streetlight doesn't classify themselves because they just play how they feel. Listen to the AP Show interview with Tomas.

You are and should be well known as the biggest idiot on sing365.com.
You stated Streetlight "isn't real ska". Son, if Streetlight isn't ska then they sky aint blue!

Whatever you think you may or may not know about ska/punk/rock - is false in all directions.
Streetlight IS a SKA-punk band. The only thing about them that IS NOT ska is their Influences on music. The horn players are all Jazz majors and then Thomas is hella punk, combined they make the sound of SKA regardless if your idiotic brain perceives otherwise.

A few of my friends were diehard ska fans, and I've always been a fan of Thrash and Black metal, when they showed me this band I thought Hey, these guys are deep and have just as wicked lyrics as most metal bands, i think ill go buy there albums.

amazing, but not exacly ska | Reviewer: ben | 9/19/10

this isnt real ska. its mostly ska, but has so muchpunk and rock in it it isnt true ska. real ska is the musical ancestor to regge, (i actually know alot about this so any one who thinks thats not true look it up) but if you want real ska look up black casper live by reel big fish, or strictly rude, by big d and the kids table. those songs are all true ska. But that being said, this is still my favorite band, i just dont want people to get the wrong idea.

Why ska music is so different. | Reviewer: Alex, | 12/26/09

In relative position to modern music, Streetlight is new enough to call this generation. And this generation of kids listens to crap. I grew up on the beatles, and other forms of good music. 2 years ago, my freshman year in highschool, I was told about Steetlight, and never regret that, because I finally found something good in the music world!

By the way, I am 16 years old.

Amazing band. | Reviewer: Jacob | 6/27/09

I love streetlight. If anyone is interested in deep songs by them, they should definatley check out "here's to life" and "a moment of silence". They are in everyway as great as this song. Rock on, and roll out.

the real | Reviewer: brad thuemene | 3/15/09

simply put... this band... catch22 before hand has and still today keeps air in my lungs, and something in my heart. 24 years old. and i feel like i lived 70 years... i just hope to hell that kids today aren't only listening to the music... but really try to understand the words... there is strength in them and fuck me, strength is something we all need. if you take one thing away from this music... who ever you are, what ever your problems, how ever bad you feel, take with you the strength to never give in, never give up, and always stand your ground.

Freaky.. | Reviewer: Nandi90 | 3/13/08

hmm just wondering where the Mac kid lives...cuz i might just know you..i think i do...infact if its who i think it is you kinda introduced me to them. This is a great song i love it. its just too bad that hardly anyones even heard of streetlight. i like how it has it fast and slow parts. makes it much more interesting

To Mac21 | Reviewer: Johnna | 2/17/08

I agree with you. And Im in grade 8 too, i tried getting my friends into this band only one of them liked any of their songs though. Her name
s ashley, ans the only song she liked was 'We will fall together' Good luck though.
