Vermillion, Pt. 2 Lyrics

Performed by Slipknot
Review The Song (84)

She seemed dressed in all of me, stretched across my shame.
All the torment and the pain
Leaked through and covered me
I'd do anything to have her to myself
Just to have her for myself
Now I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do when she makes me sad

She is everything to me
The unrequited dream
A song that no one sings
The unattainable, She's a myth that I have to believe in
All I need to make it real is one more reason
I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do when she makes me sad.

But I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

A catch in my throat choke
Torn into pieces
I won't, no!
I don't wanna be this...

But I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

She isn't real
I can't make her real
She isn't real
I can't make her real

Adore the song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/1/12

There are always different ways to read lyrics.

For me, and this is probably influenced by the video to Snuff and my own experience, it sounds like a transgender girl, struggling with being trapped in a male body...

Vermillion pt 2 ( more in-depth) | Reviewer: Shane | 9/22/11

If something doesn't exist like most cases what people find is ''love'', and you chase after it, it will hurt you in so many ways imaginable. In the song it is a mental thing, a psychological factor impacts you more than a physical one. I mean this song, if understood correctly can actually deter most tragedies caused by fake romance. That's how I understand it. it wasn't murder or a break up, but something that one has chased and wasted time over which many feel remorse and saddened by. If you listen to snuff it is like the beginning and vermillion pt 2 is the ending.

Addiction isn't something only for drugs. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/14/11

Believe it or not the feeling of being in love is just as addictive as any drug, as it often times triggers the same chemical releases that those said drugs do. Plenty of people have become obsessively in love with a person to the point that you could call them an addict. They act much in the same manner as an addict, trying to find their "fix" by being with the person as much and as often as they can. They often times will break laws to see this person (ie: Breaking Retraining orders, speeding, and in extreme cases, murder).

I could go on...but I'm sure this is already boring enough to kill an ox.

really creepy :| | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/13/11

the way i understand the lyrics is probably too creepy but i think it's about "him" who's killed a girl because she hadnt wanted him (unrequited, unattainable)and he somehow sees what he's done and is ashamed or something (shame) and he doesnt know what to do now.. i thought that "i won't let this build up inside of me" means a) he doens't want to give in or surrender to love or something or b) he doesn't want to fully regret his deed ..
i think i came up with this because i have the image of vermillion which looks to me like dried blood in a way and in german it can also mean something that#s worthless which would be "him" in this context.. too weird and creepy - but i love this song

IQ | Reviewer: bobbo | 6/13/11

@ JMOETHEFIRST! - Maybe before you walk into mensa to start the debate between who is more intelligent, you or hawking, you should nail down the whole use of there vs their.

btw - i think your take on the song being about addiction is spot on

great tune

irony is never there | Reviewer: JMOETHEFIRST! | 6/8/11

i love it when people believe there IQ is the level of dickheadness they show there fellow man. (btw if professor hawking and i walked into mensa they would debate who's more intelligent) the song does have dark meanings, oh well. the song is arranged beautifully and me and my wife make love to Vermillion pt. 2. we're not macabre, or serial killers. we just appreciate good music. also the song has nothing to do with hannibal lector, or buffalo bob although there are some parallels. corey taylor woke up from a dead sleep grabbed the pad he keeps by his bedside and jotted down the lyrics. fyi MOST PEOPLE HAVE THOUGHTS OF OBSSESION AND ADDICTION ECT BUT VERY FEW CAN KEEP IT REAL ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT. but the ultimate beauty of music is it is ART! it can be perceived and expressed in an infinite amount of ways, words, and sounds. SO ALL MEANINGS RECEIVED FROM THIS SONG ARE 100% CORRECT! personally i think the song is about addiction but thats my opinion

meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/3/11

this is a song about a girl who the boy can't really reach because she doesn't let him. He wants to be more intimate with her, because he loves her more and more but she won't let him in.

thats why he's frustrated. she's a myth because no one can reach her. she has pushed him away and he's going insane because he's the only one that can see her, not literaly, but see the real her

love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/10/11

In my opinion, I don't think there is a single girl, I think that the first verse talks about a collective memory of several failed relationships, and then the next verse is talking about a fictitious girl that doesn't exist, like an imagined ideal/perfect soul-mate. And the rest of the song could be talking about how he won't let himself fantasize about 'her' 'cause she isn't and can't be real.

love it | Reviewer: jen | 2/28/11

my review.and what it means is totally diff from the ones i read but to me there are no wrong interpritations of what songs mean, they can mean anything to anyone, thats why i love music. To me, "she" isnt a girl, she is an addiction, a drug that he loves but knows is wrong, wants to quit because it makes him miserable. he is ashamed and torn and doesnt know what to do and makes him sad

vermillion pt 2 | Reviewer: caitlin | 2/24/11

I think this song is about him loving a girl deeply but only by the thoughts that he has about her and that hes made her out to be so perfect in his head when in reality she's not what she was made out to be and he doesnt know what to do because the girl he actually loves is only in his head and he cant let it go.

Its his dream girl that isnt real | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/9/11

basically the song is about a girl he wishes is real perfect his dream girl but he knows she isn't real and he wont let this destroy his dream of finding her thats why he wont let it build up and he catches his throat he is fighting his sadness that he knows he will never find his perfect woman but this is justmy veiw =)

love | Reviewer: cock fart | 11/27/10

Personally, I believe it is about the obsessive love of a girl that he inevitabely has no chance with. The infatuation with this person combined with the knowledge that she is unattainable is what causes "all the torment and pain." He imagines the idealistic situation but acknowledges that in reality it is impossible to share a mutual love; "She isn't real, I can't make her real." Moreover, he is frustrated with himself for the way he feels, he wants to overcome the pain and suffering and move on "I wont let this build up inside of me." Thats the meaning I as a reader and listener have gained anyway..

v2 | Reviewer: louis | 11/23/10

i think its about some guy thats a bit mentally disturbed, and sees this girl that doesnt really exist and then he falls in love with her.after that he realizes she is just a vision and only in his mind and he fights his feelings for her.

not how I see it | Reviewer: Beth | 10/18/10

to me, this song says something different to what has been suggested previously, Of course any good song will mean something different to every listener who connects to it.

But for me, this song is about someone with a severe mental illness, major depressive disorder/ bipolar disorder/ borderline personality disorder... it fits well to my own stories of life and broken relationships. Me being the sick one. For me it's about loving someone who is sick, and dreaming they will be the well version of themselves, which seems to never happen and how traumatic and difficult it is to be with someone so messed up and broken...

pssssssh! | Reviewer: wannetch | 10/16/10

well no one knows what this song is really about but the person who wrote this does.......I love this song but i am not sick!! "I hope that this is informing and i would also like to tell you that if this song comforts and nourishes you after I have revealed its intentions to you, then you are a very sick person. Far more sick and disturbed than me even though I pulled this amazingly psychotic meaning from this song..." fuck dat man, im not sick nor Disturbed! & yes...after listening to it a buncha times, it still comforts and nourishes me.
