Vampires Will Never Hurt You Lyrics - My Chemical Romance
Review The Song (37)
And if they get me and the sun
Goes down into the ground
And if they get me take this spike
To my heart and
And if they get me and the sun
Goes down
And if they get me take this spike
And
You put the spike in my heart
And if the sun comes up
Will it tear the skin right off our bones
And then
As razor sharp white teeth
Rip out our necks
I saw you there
Someone get me to the doctor
Someone get me to a church
Where they can pump this venom gaping hole
And you must keep your soul
Like a secret in your throat
And if they come and get me
What if
You put the spike in my heart
And if they get me and the sun
Goes down
And if they get me take this spike
And
Come on
Can you take this spike
Will it fill our hearts with thoughts of endless
Night
Time
Sky
Can you take this spike
Will it wash away this jet black feeling
And now the nightclub
Set the stage for this
They come in pairs
She said
We'll shoot back holy water
Like cheap whiskey
They're always there
Someone get me to the doctor
And someone call the nurse
And someone buy me roses
And someone burned the church
We're hanging out with corpses
And driving in this hearse
And someone save my soul
Tonight
Please
Save
My
Soul
Can you take this spike
Will it fill our hearts with thoughts of endless
Night
Time
Sky
Can you take this spike
Will it wash away this jet black
Now
Let's go
Come on
And as these days watch over time
And as these days watch over time
And as these days watch
Over us tonight
And as these days watch over time
And as these days watch over time
And as these days watch
Over us tonight
I'll never let them
I'll never let them
I'll never let them hurt you
Not tonight
I'll never let them
I can't forget them
I'll never let them hurt you
I promise
Struck down
Before
Our prime
Before
You got off the floor
Can you stake my heart
Can you stake my heart
(And these thoughts of endless night
Bring us back into the light
And this venom from my heart)
Can you stake my heart
Can you stake my heart
(And these thoughts of endless night
Bring us back into the light
Kill this venom from my heart)
Can you
Stake me
Before
The sun
Goes down
(And as always, innocent like roller coasters.
Fatality is like ghosts in snow and you have no idea what you're up against
Because I've seen what they look like.
Becoming perfect as if they were sterling silver chainsaws going cascading...)
Goes down into the ground
And if they get me take this spike
To my heart and
And if they get me and the sun
Goes down
And if they get me take this spike
And
You put the spike in my heart
And if the sun comes up
Will it tear the skin right off our bones

Yes . But one thing aalwys stuck in my mind when we had asked her: She would aalwys ask, Will it be after 7? No one had questioned her .I mean it may have been just another coincidence; maybe her mother was strict with those things? Who knows. But she became a welcome part of our group. She didn't talk much, but that was fine with us, we just liked being around her. She only stayed in town for 2 years, and near the end of the 2nd year me and her shared a special relationship together if you could say so. We began to talk to each other more, and we hanged out more frequently. Then, one night, at the bowling alley, she told me she was moving away. I remember her giving me a kiss right on the cheek, and boy did it feel wonderful. As she had said, the next day, she had left. Just like that. She was a mystery none of us or I could solve. It wasn't until the past few years that I had begun to notice and realize why she was so mysterious, why she was the way she was, I began to pick out details from my past and now that I take a better look, the coincidence is striking. She almost NEVER came to school on completely cloudless days. Her attendance was more frequent during the Fall and Winter months. Her eyes were literally enchanting, they were a very deep blue, and under her eyes were dark circles which made her stand out even more from the class. She only hung out with us on early evenings, for example, from 7-9. Then she hurriedly left. Her manners were VERY decent, she ate very proper and she aalwys said Please and Thanks . Her presence when she entered any room was a mysterious vibe , a creepily dark one, and even I could never tell what she was thinking or feeling. Her emotions were well hidden. Don't get me wrong, maybe these are just surprising coincidences, maybe she grew up in a well-mannered home. Maybe all the animals that aalwys seemed to be drawn to her was also just a coincidence. I'm not going to assume she wasn't human. She did eat lunch, although very little. She laughed and she acted like everyone else. But something about her really struck a nerve. I never really tell much of anyone about her. It was a more personal memory and experience. I believed I had befriended a Vampire. This is pure speculation. I never saw her drink blood, I never saw her burst into flames or fly or whatever these modern vampires do. She dressed rather normally. Her name was a bit strange but it was unique, her name was Nasya. I'm not sure if that's how it was spelled but it went something like that. (Old Man memory). I have tried to locate this woman (or girl), but no records that I could recall came up. It saddens me indeed. Well that was my supposed Vampire Tale.
NEVER OR ALWAYS? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/6/12
I like a lot of the comments posted here. One that really stuck out was that each song has a different meaning to each person... with that being said, here is my theory, the answer is in the title. In order to be hurt something bad must occur that you did not want. So in essence even though the vampires will cause you pain. You wanted it. They didn't hurt you. You hurt yourself they brought the pain. Just look at edward and by bells. Its a thin line line but so is NEVER and ALWAYS.
What this song means to me | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/19/11
Okay I read somewhere that a "vampire boyfriend" is a dull guy who sucks the life out you, makes you bored and exhausted and so on. Somewhere else, I've read that you shouldn't try and hate on everything, because it makes you a vampire. So this song can be seen from two perspectives. The "vampire" and the "victim". The vampire, is the depressing-lifesucking-worldhating-monotone friend (a bit like DARIA, the cartoon character) and the vampire is realising that they are like this, and they are affecting everyone around them and they want to change their habits, but it's hard for them and they need help but don't know how to ask for it. The victim is realising that they have a "friend/frienemy" and they are exhausting to keep up with, or to continue being friends with and so they try to shake them off, get rid of the "venom". So basically, vampire or victim. Already a vampire, or about to become one. Depends on how you see it. When I was depressed, I was a vampire and this song helped me through it.

PLUS. How could Gerard even describe the meaning of the song? What he MEANT to say is what you read here, LYRICS. It had to be said this way, no other. So it's senseless trying to find SENSE cuz the SENSE=LYRICS. If that makes sense. XD

Dear Alex, your comment made me laugh. Of course, I mean this part: "One thing I don’t understand is how people can claim to be so in love with them and not even be sure what their songs are about" One thing I don't understand is how can you insult MCR fans w/o even knowing the ultimate music law: MUSIC IS TIMELESS and everyone understands it in their own way, even if the author of lyrics meant something different. Go, ask Gerard Way. He won't say "omg you think that it's about REAL vampires, you're dumb rofl gtfo of my band" he'd be more like "you understood it that way-your choice, good for you".
Each artist is happy when people find more meanings than he meant to put in the song :D

To me this song holds two meanings:
#1- the blatent and visual accpect of a man protecting someone he loves from a pride of Vampires, and amazingly enough it makes just as much sence in this form as it dose in the deeper meaning, thats not very commen in modern rock, the medafores get lost in eachother and the suface meaning is muddled and the deeper meaning is just to deep, but My Chemical Romance is good for both plain meanings and the deeper side of the issue, which makes it easy for us B adverage students to listen to with out insulting our intelegence.
#2- I believe the deeper meaning is that the band it's self is saveing us from the fake and money loveing musical proformers that have come up in todays society or "vampires". And yes, they are saveing us from the lip sinkers and the computer generated money loveing leaches that are trying to rot our brains into black abyss.
As a musical and lyrisist myself, My Chemical Romance has been so much insperation to reach for bigger and better meanings and medaphors, theres no one i look up to more then that band, Gerard Way is my idol, all around personaly artisticly musicaly and vocaly, and plus hes not half bad to look at, stare at.
This is just a perfect song to help break the shell, I'm scared that our rock gods are treding on thin sell out ice, much like or old lovelys Fall Out Boy who... unfortunately sold out, I hope they dont fallow down that dark path, I pray that we have them forever.

I’m not a huge fan of My Chemical Romance, in fact, I don’t particularly like them at all, I do like some of there songs though, such as this one. One thing I don’t understand is how people can claim to be so in love with them and not even be sure what their songs are about, but only know that they conjure dark images. However, they are ready to crucify anyone that doesn’t share this opinion. They must be brainwashing you guys or something. I joke, I joke.
Anyway, I think Vampires Will Never Hurt You is metaphorical obviously, and about how society/drugs/alcohol etc. or the ’vampires’ in the song are ‘pumping venom’ into him and sucking the life out of him much like vampires do and he is struggling to find an escape from this as ‘someone burned the church’ and he continues to ‘hang out with corpses’ or people much like him who are continuing to rot under the hold the aforementioned has on them.
The stake to his heart means he is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to escape this life before the ‘sun goes down’ and he is unable to escape and will be stuck like this for an eternity. He doesn’t want this to happen to the person he is talking to in the song, so not only is he fighting for himself, he is fighting for someone else as he does not want them to go through what he did.
Well, that was nice and long. =]
amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/28/08
this song is so inspirational, like all mcr songs.
oh, and, according to Wikipedia the meaning is:
The meaning of the song's lyrics was explained by the band as a metaphoric critique to the society. The "vampires" represent the greedy and ambitious human beings. In the concept story, though, this song is the part where vampires take over the town that the two main characters live in. Gerard has said that he used vampires as a metaphor for people who want to use others for their own gain. He went on to say that there is always something about the living dead which will make people clinically depressed.

This is the best song ever written! @W@ I love it lots. The vampire thing, it's just awesome! MCR is a totally amazing band. Their songs are all meaningful. <3 way to go MCR!
Ps. anyone know how old this song is. >< I can't quite find the album for this song =O
Great song..but what do you think it's really about? | Reviewer: Raine | 1/16/08
I've been wondering this for a lot of their songs..what was this song written about, in all honesty?
It reminds me, a bit, of From Dusk 'Til Dawn..but that's probably just me. The first one, that is. Only parts of it though. It could possibly be symbolism for society and those on the outer ridges of society who fight it off to keep their individuality also. These are just ideas I've been throwing around though.
Just wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Please feel free to share them with me.
ACTUAL vampires hold a special place in my heart, so just the title alone has its own little special meaning to me.
And the whispering parts are, indeed, incorrect in this. It's too fast for me to catch and coherently write down though, so I can't blame the submitter for such an small error. Atleast they tried, and for that I'm sure we all thank them. ^_^
MCR XD | Reviewer: Alex | 11/30/07
Dude, I seriously LOVE MCR. Their lyrics, don't get me started, haha. And their music, and the affect it has on people. Whenever I listen to Cemetery Drive, I get chills down my spine when you can faintly make out the backround singing of "don't do it" it's wonderful.
The band has helped me sooo much. Yeah, I still get depressed, but now whenever I listen to their music, it's like medicine. Helena gets to me the most.
And this song is just wicked. Wicked, awesome, cool, no words can describe ANY of their music.
Thanks MCR :P
