Bob Dylan Things Have Changed Lyrics

Last updated: 08/14/2014 06:12:03 PM

(First release, Live version, 2000, Portsmouth, England)

One two three four…

I'm a worried man, got a worried mind
No one in front of me, no one behind
There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne.
Got white skin, got assassin's eyes
I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies
I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train.
Standin' on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I'm expectin' all hell to break loose.
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range
I used to care, but things have changed.

This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove.
Lot of water under the bridge, lot of other stuff too
Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only, I'm only passing through.
People are crazy, times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I've been walking forty miles of bad road
If the bible is right, the world will explode
I'm trying to get as far away from myself as I can.
Things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can't win with a losin' hand.
Feel like fallin' in love with the first woman I meet
Puttin' her in a wheel barrow, wheelin' her down the street.
People are crazy, times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed.

I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity.
Gonna get low down, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I'm in love with a woman that don't even appeal to me.
Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they, they jumped in the lake
I'm not that eager, not that eager to make a mistake.
People are crazy, times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range
I used to care, but things have changed.

Things Have Changed | Reviewer: Glory Cloud Revelation | 8/14/14

Review by Glory Cloud Revelation’s response to “Things Have Changed”:
What the world needs now, is love sweet love…Wouldn't you rather sing words to give them hope for the greatest gift of all- l o v e?
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and as a man thinketh so is he" (Proverbs 18:21, Proverbs 23:7) Therefore,if we speak the Lord’s words of life and love and blessing, and believe them. We could change ourselves and some of the world around us for the better. I left out “too hot to touch” that is sung in this video while focusing the camera on what it looks like -a young teenage girl, about 17 or 18 years old. Then, she walks off with Bob as he looks now, holding hands. I wouldn’t have thought much of it, except that when he was singing the words, “too hot to touch” , the camera showed her on the dance floor just before she came to him and they walked away holding hands. She looked so innocent and happy, but if she cheapens herself, it’ll cause her misery.
I don’t mean that Bob Dylan isn’t a very special person for someone close to his age. And it doesn’t mean he’s ‘over the hill’ for even, me. But it isn’t likely that this girl of 17 or 18 years old is God’s choice to be a helpmate to a 73 year old handsome man like Bob Dylan. No, Bob, she’s too young! ”Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it build it in vain.” (Psalm 127:10)
Therefore, leaving that part out of the video is one of the suggested changes by Glory Cloud Revelation in this review of the song “Things Have Changed”.
Here are some additional words, and omissions to help balance the bad feelings with the good. Which in our opinion would bring a more enjoyable balance to this imaginative song by one of the greatest song writers, and artists in the world, Bob Dylan:

One two three four…
Wonder what I’m here for,
No one in front of me, no one behind,
There’s a woman on my mind.

She doesn’t smoke, she doesn’t drink,
Sometimes, I wonder if she doesn’t think.
Looking up at the sapphire tinted sky,
I’m well dressed, waiting for the last train
At the cross roads, to come by...

I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range,
I said, ‘I didn’t care, life is but a game’
But things have changed...
I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range.

I’ve been takin’ a bad road;
The Bible says, in the last days,
“Because iniquity shall abound,
The love of many will wax cold”
If the Bible’s right, the world will explode. *Isaiah 29:6, Isaiah 24

Tryin' to get as far away
From myself as I can,
Won't win with a losin' hand;
The human mind can,
Only stand so much.
I need the Lord’s loving touch.

I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone, and not even know it;
I thought by now, she’d come back for more,
I don’t know what she’s waitin' for....
She said, she’s a lady, not a whore,
And her heart is tore.

I’m standin’ at the cross roads underneath the sapphire sky,
Waitin’ for the last train to come by,
There’s a woman on my mind, I said I didn’t care,
But things have changed; don't wanna leave her waitin' there.
I think, maybe I’m gonna take more time, to see if she’s mine.
I heard someone say, she thinks I'm fine.

Oh, in this ol’ world that’s fallin’ apart,
Once in a life time comes someone for somebody,
With love that will never depart.
In the mean time, ask Jesus into your heart.
The human mind can only stand so much.
We all need the Lord’s loving touch. *Jeremiah 29:11-13
