The ocean Lyrics - Led Zeppelin
Review The Song (18)
[Count-In: John Bonham] - "We've done four already but now we're steady
and then they went: One, two, three, four"
Singing in the sunshine, laughing in the rain.
Hitting on the moonshine, rocking in the brain.
Got no time to pack my bag, my foots outside the door.
Got a date, can't be late for the high hopes hailla ball.
Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar.
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more.
Singing about the good things and the sun that lights the day.
I used to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost its way.
I don't know
na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na
Sitting round singing songs 'til the night turns into day.
Used to sing on the mountains but the mountains washed away.
Now I'm singing all my songs to the girl who won my heart.
She is only three years old and it's a real fine way to start.
It sure is fine.
Blow my mind.
When the tears are going down.
Oh so good.

Led Zeppelin Was IS And Ever Will Be The Greatest Band Of All Time!! I started off with the 4th album in about 6th grade and immediately Poured through everything I could find by them. No one writes like they do where you can feel everything in the words and notes and actually put yourself in the same exact place. All of their music touches you in ways that other things don't. Nothing comes close. Nothing ever will. God bless all of them and all of you.
One of my favorites' | Reviewer: Alison | 6/20/13
Everything about and of Zeppelin is great, but this song is so beautiul it almost makes me wanna cry. I think, [Houses of the Holy] was their happiest album full of optimism, confidence, laughter - and <The Ocean> is of course, a very hard number but also very light. However, however - don't you just hate it that someone of Robert Plant's talent, beauty, sense of humor, showmanship can also be a good lyricist?
i dont know why but every day a new zeppelin song is my favourit song , only stairway 2 the heaven and the song remains the same are the 2 songs that realy stays for a long periode , then there is thats the way that i like most i didnt write a review . sorry for that.
Simply Awesome. | Reviewer: L14 | 5/26/11
Led Zeppelin has been one of my absolute favourite bands for a while now. Plant's vocals, Page's crazy riffs. Jones and Bonham hitting those drums- it's magic. John Bonham is one of my favourite drummers ever. His technique was great. Rip Bonham, man, his was awesome. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
14, and I know my music(:

...before school, this was the song that played on my alarm clock for years.

Led Zeppelin is undoubtedly one of the greatest rock band all time(my fav list includes pink floyd, metallica).
This song is awesome with a mind blowing solo with the wah-wah effect.
You know Jimmy Page has a unique style of using the wah-wah pedal. Instead of lifting his leg periodically to create that way song, he keeps the pedal pressed which gives a lot more shrill sound......well, great guitarists, great habits.
I'm the little girl | Reviewer: Norianne | 10/19/09
I just talked to my father yesterday who called me because he heard 'the ocean' somewhere. He was a big fan and told me that this was his song for me since I was a little baby girl (I'm now in college). I had to look up the lyrics to see what why my attributed this particular song to me. They made me smile. Peace. Love.
Ending | Reviewer: antawesome | 10/19/09
The last part min of the song is fantastic, i never heard anything like it. First they kick it off with a awesome riff and when thats not enough they give you that last part which makes this one of my favorite led zeppelin songs
Sweet Song and overlooked classic Zep! | Reviewer: bill | 10/1/09
it is playing now on the radio. this is one of their way overlooked great songs.
Oh and since this is off 'Houses...' here is a joke!
My daugher asked me for 25 cents. I said "i am sorry baby I am just like Houses of the Holy, i have "No Quarter."
she did not get it. My wife did not get it! The 14 year old kid across the street got it. He was suprised that an OLD guy would know who Led Zep was!

On the live disc, "How The West Was Won, Disc 3" I fell in love with the ending. I received that whole set for Christmas my 8th grade year of middle school. I am graduating next week and I'm still in love with the band and everything that goes along with it. I have listened to songs from all over the world in various languages and understand what the artist is saying, and never has an artist, even from other parts of the world, wrote the way that Led Zeppelin has. You can understand what he's saying, but with the way he writes, I feel like I'm there. Sounds crazy and delusional, but I can never get this band off of my mind.

I've always loved this song even when it first came out. In fact it is my favorite Zeppelin song. I never could totally understand the lyrics but I loved rocking to it. Especially right before surfing so I could play it in my head on the waves. Now several years into the future I read the lyrics, these reviews on this site and I understand the meaning of the song, wow! I love this song more. It seams my favorite songs don't just have a good tune and beat, they tell a story. It creats an escape from the everyday, with a cool beat!

Folks, this song is a homage to the fans. The "ocean" is the sea of people at the concerts.
"Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more"
Not many bands acknowledge their fans in lyrics.
