The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows Lyrics

Review The Song (30)Print the Lyrics

We saw the western coast
I saw the hospital
Nursed the shoreline like a wound
Reports of lover's tryst
Were neither clear nor descript
We kept it safe and slow
The quiet things that no one ever knows

[Chorus: x2]
So keep the blood in your head
And keep your feet on the ground
If today's the day it gets tired
Today's the day we drop out
Gave up my body and bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lower cases and capitals

I contemplate the day we wed
Your friends are boring me to death
Your veil is ruined in the rain
By then it's you I can do without
There's nothing new to talk about
And though our kids are blessed
Their parents let them shoulder all the blame

[Chorus: x2]
So keep the blood in your head
And keep your feet on the ground
If today's the day it gets tired
Today's the day we drop out
Gave up my body and bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lower cases and capitals

[Bridge: x2]
I lie for only you
And I lie well...
Hallelu...

[Chorus: x2 (words from bridge continued in the background)]
So keep the blood in your head
And keep your feet on the ground
Today's the day it gets tired
Today's the day we drop out
Gave up my body and bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lower cases and capitals

Review about The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows

metaphors exist, you know | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/8/09

this song is obviously about SOMETHING. it's not like he put together words with no thought behind them. it's obviously about regretting marrige/settling down (i contemplate the day we wed/your friends are boring me to death/your veil is ruined in the rain/by then it's you I can do without/there's nothing new to talk about), but at the same time not being strong enough to say it to your wife/husband (we kept it safe and slow/the quiet things that no one ever knows). instead, the couple neglect the fact and fight over trivial things, give their kids a hard time (and though our kids are blessed/their parents and let them shoulder all the blame) side step the problem by working hard and constantly going on buissness trips and whatnot (gave up my body and bed/for an empty hotel/wasting words on lower cases and capitals). come on people, at least try to read between the lines.

Brand new reminds me of saves the day, which makes them awsome in my book! And who ever calls this music emo is right, all good music is emotional and if you don't put emotion into it you get some sort of terrible genre that isn't good. Music is emotional, people are emotional, so there for everyone is emo!

Wow. | Reviewer: Shelby | 12/15/08

Brand New is quite possibly one of my favorite bands. I could listen to their music all day long, over and over again and not once get tired of them. Jesse is quite possibly one of the most amazing song writers of all time. He isn't emo, he is quite simply expressing his feelings towards whatever he may write about. The band iself is not as you refer to as "emo" it is indie rock. I would even consider them a bit alternative. All the songs made by Brand New are somewhat relatable and I enjoy that. See, rap and stupid music that talks about booty shaking and getting "crunk" is repulsive and I'm sure only few can actually relate to such obscene music. Music in itself is an emotional experience, it can make you happy, sad, angry, ect. And the phrase "emo" is so negatively distributed. Everyone is "emo" in some shape, way, or form. How you display your emotion is a different story. Anyways, all I'm saying is, is that Brand New has helped me release some of the emotional build up I've had inside of me. Thier songs soothe me and just help me relax. Music is a healthy way of releasing emotion.

BRAND NEW, YOU ROCK!

oh yes | Reviewer: Laci | 7/30/08

Brand New could quite possibly one of the best lyrical bands of it's time. Each and everyone of their songs are so deep and about something important. I think they have a song that could relate to everyone and their situation. And that's always a good thing.

i love brand new they are awesome...but every one of you who have mentioned the word "emo" should shut up, the band isnt emo and neither are the lyrics the lyrics have meaning...and oviously apply to some people and how they are feeling.doesnt make that person emo or the band.i think some of you have your genre's mixed up.brand new are indie style....my chemical romance is emo....

I've Heard This Before. | Reviewer: Nick | 6/21/08

This song is amazing, and Brand New is amazing. Jesse Lacey is a lyrical/poetic genius.
And for the record. Emo doesn't stand for emotional, and people consider any band that actually talks about a human feeling emo. Pretty soon people will be calling Bob Dylan Emo...
Anyway, Jesse Lacey is the best modern lyricist, and people can call that whatever they want.

love this song. | Reviewer: becca | 1/12/08

tbh, i love this song, it is one of my fave songs of all time. and if ppl are gonna take the time and say this is emo, why the fuck are you sat looking at the lyrics? if it offends you, dont listen to it? pretty simple dont you think?
now, im not emo, i listen to a bit of everything, but i know this isnt "emo"
x

I cant help it | Reviewer: Jeff | 12/30/07

I absolutely love this band.

My favorite genre of music is metal... but this band is so damn amazing its sickening. The lyrics, the son structure, everything.
