Jade's riff in the beginning pulls you into an atmosphere of an intial starting of life, ending quickly when the drums and bass are added intenstifying davey's vocals that are the most powerful they sounded since before 2003. His lyrics are amazing in making abstracts concrete; the push and pull of human emotion and the trust to doubt to hope only to end it by giving in only to once again be consume by what you have destroyed. The spainsh lyrics add a sense of classical elements and mystery to the returning of what is consuming one's self. Although Davey's screams aren't directly on a pitch, this is one frontman who is not afarid of playing with range and styles. All in all this band has to be one of the most influential bands out in the music world to date because their progression of lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals from the art of drowning is stunning yet when you listen to the leaving song part II or any of the other tracks from sing the sorrow, you know that it is afi. P.s. This is supposed to be the last song on the cd.
