The Kinslayer Lyrics - Nightwish

Review The Song (12)

For whom the gun tolls
For whom the prey weeps
Bow before a war
Call it religion

Some wounds never heal
Some tears never will
Dry for the unkind
Cry for mankind

Even the dead cry
- Their only comfort
Kill your friend, I don`t care
Orchid kids, blinded stare

Need to understand
No need to forgive
No truth no sense left to be followed

"Facing this unbearable fear like meeting an old friend"

"Time to die, poor mates, You made me what I am!"

"In this world of a million religions everyone prays the same way"
"Your praying is in vain It`ll all be over soon"
"Father help me, save me a place by your side!"
"There is no god Our creed is but for ourselves"

"Not a hero unless you die Our species eat the wounded ones"

"Drunk with the blood of your victims
I do feel your pity-wanting pain,
Lust for fame, a deadly game"

"Run away with your impeccable kin!"

"- Good wombs hath borne bad sons..."
Cursing, God, why?
Falling for every lie
Survivors` guilt
In us forevermore

15 candles
Redeemers of this world
Dwell in hypocrisy:
"How were we supposed to know?"

4 pink ones
9 blue ones
2 black ones

- In memory of the Redeemers 20.4.1999

The Topic of Bipolar Disorder and the Sociopath. | Reviewer: Heaher | 2/29/12

First of all, it would be really nice if you guys could spell "sociopath" correctly. Further more, you say that one of the boys was not psychotic, then in the same breath you say that he was a manic-depressent. Today this is referd to as bipolar disorder. Suffers of bipoler disorder suffer bouts of crippling depresseion, then suddenly enter what is called the manic state. The manic state is the most dangerous as they tend to become so overstimulated and can lash out at others with no warning. In the manic state, a person tends to go for days on end without sleep or food. If the manic episode is not treated with an antipsychotic in time, they will often enter into a psychotic episod. This means that they may hear voices, usually very negative voices that are degrading to the person, and often tell them to do horrible things. Some people with this disorder, even when they are experiencing auditory and visual hallucinations, do not lose touch with reality, and know what they are seeing/hearing is not real. However, some do and will act on what the voices are telling them to do. And guess what? Peolpe in a psychotic episode will frequently deny the problem, like you said, he stated the he was not psychotic. People with bipolar disorder can be very cunning and manipulative, to the point that they can fool a mental health professional. Not that this in ANY WAY justifys what horrible things these little bastard did, but so many people are so uninformed on this topic, I felt compelled to illuminate you. As for the sociopath, it is AS SERIOUS and DANGEROUS as a psychotic state brought on by bipolar disorder. The sociopath will ofter hurt other people physically and/or mentaly, and have absoulutly no remorse, no matter how terrible the act may have been. They feel that their behavior is justified, that others must pay for some deep seeded rage, and they do not care who pays the price. And furthermore, where the hell were their parents when all this was being planned? I'm sorry, but if you pay any attention to your child at all, how could you have missed the warning signs? The symptoms must have been very sever to do what they did. I must admit, even though the music of this song is so powerful, and makes me want to get up and head bang, once I read the lyrics and figured out what it was about, this song now brings me to tears.

The Good and the Bad | Reviewer: Me Myself and I | 10/6/11

Nightwish has made many fantastic songs throughout their entire career. This one in particular, is a bit troubling in the greater scheme of things. The lyrics are just so powerful. But lives in this world in schools or even neighborhoods, still really hasnt changed, just transformed into a more sinister and deadly game. Kids killing kids and the main reason is because how they treat each other. I hope and pray that all these kids will learn and forgive themselves. Maybe even stop the tragedy that occurs all the time all over.

-insanity, you coulnd't be more wrong! stop reading Dave cullen's book! :S he knows nothing, he wasn't there..for the love of god, read Brooks brown's book, and stop repeating what others said.
ERic wasn't a psycho, he even said on a vid tape (I read it cause we can't see the vid) this: "I wish I was a f*cking sociopath so I didn't have any remorse, but I do" (acolumbinesite).

I LOVE THIS SONG. <3

great song. i did reading on this. i wouldn't say it was about "more than just being bullied" since these kids weren't bullied. i mean every kid gets picked on at some point, but these kids were kinda socially normal. no real enemies, and they went to many parties. bullying isn't what they did this for. eric was a psycopath, and dylan a manic depressive. they weren't "made" into that... they were born that way. the only thing the environment didn't do was recognize it sooner and do something about it. the ignorance afterward is further evidence of it because they chose to blame marilyn manson (which these 2 kids HATED... look it up) and doom.

reality is we all have evil thoughts, and we're all exposed to something wicked sooner or later. you're either mentally capable of murdering a bunch of people, or you aren't. period. (and don't say anything about soldiers... that's survival. big difference)

Kewl lyrics. They actually mean something. Bravo Tuomas. lol.

However I disagree with the "these boys didn't start out demented" because Eric Harris was a psychopath. While he was certainly driven to his fate by his surroundings, he started a little demented. Do some research about Columbine, you'll find that the motives behind Klebold and Harris were a little more than just being bullied.

I love the lyrics that Nightwish has on like, all of their songs. I think this one particularly says volumes, if you bother to listen.

And they are right. Those boys didn't start out evil, demented, or anything. When it says "You made me what I am", quoting one of them if my sources are correct, it's right. But the worst thing, and saddest thing, is nothing has changed. Sure, for the families of the dead it has, and school security supposedly is better now, but if you look at the teenagers, nothing has. People bully and make fun of people for being different, and I think that's what caused this tragedy. Listen to these lyrics, really hear what they say... But don't walk away the same. Do it for me, for my friends and other high schoolers. Do it for your children.

Do it for them.

Most important | Reviewer: Iron Angel | 4/18/09

The most important thing to notice about the song is that it doesn't take a one-sided stance on the cause of Columbine. It also makes an important, and I feel under-represented, observation of the fact that the boys didn't necessarily start out that way, and they didn't turn into homicidal maniacs on their own.

Incredibly powerful piece, with an incredibly deep meaning...

Tuomas wrote "The Kinslayer" about the victims of the Columbine High School massacre. 15 candles refers to those killed, there were 15 deaths. 9 boys, the "blue," 4 girls, the "pink," and the 2 perpetrators, the "black."

Kinslayer | Reviewer: Ciara | 9/23/08

This song is about Columbine's high school massacre at 20.04.1999.
15 candles: each one for a dead one. Pink candles for dead girls, blue ones for dead boys, and the black ones for those killers.

It's really sad, how stupid little boys kill other people. They're young, they deserve to live.

The Kinslayer | Reviewer: celina | 8/10/08

I really like this song. It's like most of the nightwish-lyrics. It's really hard to understand the meaning behind the song. What does the 15 candles mean? can somebody tell me zthe meaning of the song?

kinslayer | Reviewer: sb.seed@gmail.com | 6/15/07

like all of nightwishes music this is another good song...with meaning. thank god for a band that can right lyrics for a change.
