The Haunting (Somewhere In Time) Lyrics - Kamelot

Review The Song (15)

Merely the sound of your voice
Made me believe that, that you were her
Just like the river disturbs
My inner peace

Once I believed I could find
Just a trace of her beloved soul
Once I believed she was all
Then she smothered my beliefs

One cold winter's night
I may follow her voice to the river
Leave me now and forever
Leave while you can

Somewhere in time I will find you and haunt you again
Like the wind sweeps the earth
Somewhere in time when no virtues are left to defend
You've fallen deep

I was a liar in every debate
I rule the forces that fueled your hate
When the cold in my heart leaves, it comes to an end
And quietly I'll go to sleep

How could that first time recur
When memories linger on and on
What made me think you were her
Helena is dead to all
Dead to all

Nothing can bring her to life
Don't pretend that I'll be loving you
Once I believed she was gone
I corrupted from within

Leave leave me for now and forever
Leave what you can

Somewhere in time I will find you and haunt you again
Like the wind sweeps the earth
Somewhere in time when no virtues are left to defend
You've fallen deep

I was a liar in every debate
I rule the forces that fueled your hate
When the cold in my heart leaves, it comes to an end
Quietly now go to sleep

(Roy:)
Follow me into the light
(Simone:)
Like ice on a lake of tears
I'll take you through
(Roy:)
Or leave me tonight
(Roy:)
I've gone too far to begin all anew
(Simone:)
Life fades in anew
(both:)
With someone like you

Somewhere in time I will find you and love you again
Like the wind sweeps the earth
Somewhere in time when no virtues are left to defend
You've fallen deep

I was a liar in every debate
I rule the forces that fueled your hate
When the cold in my heart leaves, it comes to an end
And quietly I'll go to sleep

In 2002, Mark Jansen left After Forever for creative differences. In that same year he created another band named Sahara Dust. Sahara Dust changed their name to Epica.
Many bands take names off of other bands songs or even albums. And Epica is one of them since they got their name off of Kamelot's CD.

In another note.. I love this song! Keep playing it over and over.

Whatever fucking idiot said that Epica was created because, of Kamelot is an idiot. Epica the album came out in 2003, Epica was formed in 2002. Eat a brick and learn some musical history.

Can there be anymore better ballads than this!!! | Reviewer: Ian | 10/15/11

When I heard Wander and On the coldest winter night from the previous album, Epica, I thought ballads cant be better than this but when I heard this.... Well had to change my mind. It may not be slow as a ballad but it hits that special place in my heart.

Extra text int the beginning(!?) | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/12/11

These parts IS NOT SUNG in the beginning:
Only after the first reefrain comes this part:

Leave me now and forever
Leave while you can

And after the second refrain this part:

I was a liar in every debate
I rule the forces that fueled your hate
When the cold in my heart leaves, it comes to an end
And quietly I'll go to sleep

They are not originally written in BOTH places, naha. Listen to the song once more you'll hear:)

By the way, the band, Epica, was actually created because Kamelot's album of the same name was so good that it sparked all the musicians from Epica to create the band.

So yeah, Kamelot is so badass that a single album of theirs yields another band.

beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/21/10

I love kamelot and Symphonic metal in general. But this song is so deep I want to cry when I listen to it. My band wants to cover this song. I found it funny because we are heavily influenced by kamelot, and my friend who is a very big fan of epica would cameo for the part of Simone Simmons.

One of the finest songs IO've heard | Reviewer: John | 8/15/09

Simone has the voice of an angel, and Roy sounds just magical. What range and control. The man is brilliant! And like an anonymous reviewer put it, his warm tone that he maintains when he goes high. Brilliant!

And the lyrics <3

Wow... | Reviewer: KittyCat | 11/18/08

this is the first and only song of Kamelot I have heard, found in a compilation I bought (usually I hate compilations, but they're a good way to find new bands) and it is amazing! I shall definitely be looking out for their albums! the lyrics are rather enchanting for me too, I just love these little supernatural love/hate stories

This song is amazing without a doubt and its even more amazing live, 2 feet from Khan and Simone, it is simply amazing....

I think their voices fit very well together but someone i would like to see Khan sing a duo with is Tarja Turunen.

Best solo ever. | Reviewer: Ai não. | 9/7/07

Excelent. Gives a misterious touch, the voice of simone. we feel like, we are living what they're singing it's excellent, I say.

Beautifuly Poetic | Reviewer: S i n k o t s u | 9/6/07

All time great song. Khan's got an amazing voice, it just makes it harder to sing along considering he's a trained Opera singer. It'd be a bloody miracle if I got to see a live concert, which would rule so hard.

Amazing! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/29/07

Amazing song with amazing singers. Khan and Simmons! omg! that's all i can say.. Oh My God! Khan must be the best singer ever! Their live preformances has the same quality as their records. Roy Khan's voice is just compleatly breathtaking =)

More proof | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/5/07

This song is more proof that Roy Khan is one of the best singers around in any genre. This is especially true from watching the DVD (or seeing Kamelot live) where there's no chance of studio trickery or corrections. He doesn't need them. Incredible tone, great range, and a beautiful warm quality to his voice. The vocal melody is a perfect fit for his voice, and Simone's background vocals are a nice touch, too. The star of this song is Roy, though. Super nice guy, too. :-)

Excellent | Reviewer: Nakita Melo | 11/11/06

One of my most favorite songs/music videos. The singing was done beautifully, and I think Simone should sing in more of their songs. I think her singing gives the song a more mysterious edge. I think the setting in the MV was awsome, and quite gothic-like. I think it was an overall awsome Song, Roy and Simone should do more songs together, they make an excellent duo.
