Queen The Great Pretender Lyrics

Last updated: 07/27/2014 06:48:18 PM

Words and music by Buck Ram

Oh yes I'm the great pretender (ooh ooh)
Pretending I'm doing well (ooh ooh)
My need is such I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell

Oh yes I'm the great pretender (ooh ooh)
Adrift in a world of my own (ooh ooh)
I play the game but to my real shame
You've left me to dream all alone

Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Ooh Ooh yes I'm the great pretender (ooh ooh)
Just laughing and gay like a clown (ooh ooh)
I seem to be what I'm not (you see)
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around

Yeah ooh hoo
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown (ooh ooh)
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're
Pretending that you're still around

Sounds like Queen | Reviewer: Christian | 7/27/14

It sounds a lot like a Queen song. In fact, it was included on their Greatest Hits III album. It also sounds like May and Taylor did some backing vocals. Taylor actually appears in the video. Deacon didn't appear on this as far as I know (he rarely sang)

The great pretender was originally done by the platters, and then some others. It was later done Freddie Mercury. He said he would only do it if he could bring in May, Deacon and Taylor as backing. So therefore it was done by Queen before they were actually Queen!

This song was never done by Queen, it was covered by Freddie Mercury, but that was solo.
