Davey has a great voice and jade is the bomb! Ok, I like that their songs bcome embeded in your head even if they don't have catchy rhyming lyrics or sometimes they don't even have that upbeat melody that you want to dance to. I'd never been able to just sit and listen to music before music had always been the noise in the background as I drew wrote talked to people or whatever it is that I was doing. I'd also never become curious enough to look up lyrics to songs. Until now. AFI is amazing and though sometimes I don't know what davey is singing I can always count on it being something that'll keep you reaching for the replay button. I can listen to afi for hours! It is a very emotional and heart breaking song. It brought tears to my eyes. The lyrics and music bring clear images to your mind and make you reach deep within yourself to discover broken feelings. 8th Wonder of the World | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/31/06 A Fire Inside's grand lyrical masterpiece, "The Great Disappointment" cannot merely be defined as emotional music, it captures the intense despair present within humanity's array of sorrow and heartache. To put it simply, it is a transcendence of the musical form, and an exploration of life as we know it. The opening chords alienate the listener, evoking a desolate landscape, chiming with longing for someone to share the heartache with. As the guitar weaves it's way mournfully into the rhythm, the focus turns to the solitude of the artist, lost, alone, so tired, "wasting away". Within the first few seconds, I am captivated. As Davey Havok's beautiful, yet unearthly wailing fills the empty places in the room and echoes in the depths of my soul. It's not just the instrumentation that creates this mood, the lyrics have a special poignancy. The image of "chrysanthemums of white" evokes an moment of loneliness and loss, heartbreaking in it's fragility and tenderness. Again the lyrics startle you with their insight "I'd make a wish... and bleed." To the uninitiated, AFI may have just created a heart-wrenching song. But to the chosen few, this is a dirge for humanity.
