Review The Song (14)Print the Lyrics
Hello. How are you?
Have you been alright, through all those lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely nights
That's what I'd say. I'd tell you everything
If you'd pick up that telephone yeah yeah yeah

Hey. How you feelin?
Are you still the same?
Don't you realize the things we did, we did, were all for real, not a dream?
I just can't believe
They've all faded out of view yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Doowop dooby doo doowop doowah doolang
Blue days black nights doowah doolang

I look into the sky, the love you need ain't gonna see you through
And I wonder why the little things you planned ain't coming true

Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight

Ok. So no one's answering
Well can't you just let it ring a little longer longer longer oh oh ooohhhhh
I'll just sit tight through shadows of the night
And let it ring for evermore oh oh ooohhhhh yeah yeah yeah

Doowop dooby doo doowop doowah doolang
Blue days black nights doowah doolang

When I look into the sky, the love you need ain't gonna see you through
And I wonder why the little things you planned ain't coming true

Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
Oh oh Telephone Line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight

Review about Telephone Line

It's True | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/18/09

Who could have guessed The Buggles could have been so prophetic with "video killed the radio star"? Listening to Telephone Line all these years later has made me realise what a wonderful band of real musicians ELO were, with superb musical craftsmanship and genuine human emotion carefully wrought into every song. Of course, not being young, pretty or able to perform absurd and often inappropriate dance routines whilst miming, they ultimately had no chance.
Curse MTV and modern "music" - it's lame, lifeless and plastic compared to songs like this.

very powerful | Reviewer: Alyssa | 4/21/09

i was dating this guy that i was really, really smitten with and this was "our song" i guess you may say and he really broke my heart. every time i hear this song it's such a flood of emotions and it's sad but beautiful

This song has such special meaning to me. It was my first 45. It was purple and I was so young. Even as a small child, maybe 10 or 11 I could see the magic that ELO exuded. 30 years later I just downloaded it on my ipod. Hope my 10 year old will come to appreciate the classics that are still making a lasting impression on me.

ELO | Reviewer: Mugzie | 8/27/08

ELO !! They are just awesome always have.. My husband and I only saw them about 6 years ago maybe even longer Sydney Australia and they were just as AWESOME as they were back in the 70's 80's.Telephone Line was just a beautiful yet sad song that i think many people would relate to, Including songs like LAST TRAIN IN LONDON, BLINDED BY THE LIGHT, EVIL WOMEN and soo soo much more of this wonderful band/orchestra.

I get choked up.... | Reviewer: Forcednduckshn | 2/8/08

I get choked up listening to this song and then readings its review. This song has touched so many people. For the long distance lover - I know what you mean. I have been in love for 8 years with someone that doesn't know it. But I'm lucky to be with the one I'm with now...at least we still have the feeling to hold on to.

Fantastic | Reviewer: Jondell Eileen | 12/13/07

I first heard ELO from the womb. No wonder the sound of them makes me feel so funny. A really good kind of funny like falling in love.

the pain of long distance love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/8/07

This song came out around the time I met "the one". Trouble was he lived in Europe and I lived in the USA. My last view of him was as he was heading out of Logan down the corridor to international flights. Thirty years later I found him online. He told me, "if I had known how you felt then, I would never have boarded the plane". Is it too late for us? For now, these lyrics really fit the bill.

Wonderful song | Reviewer: Nelie | 7/6/07

This song is very special 'coz this was dedicated to me by a very special someone. I likde ELO because most their songs are owesome.

About the song Telephone Line performed by Electric Light Orchestra | Reviewer: Dean Evans | 6/15/07

This is typical excellence that has been renowned by Jeff Lynn and his crew. They way Jeff pulls off the falsetto is truely inspiring and akin to the famous Freddy Bolsaris from Queen

ELO does have a magical sound about them. Maybe its the fact they had orchestral insrtuments in their band, or sound techniques, either way every song they ever produced puts a smile on my face..even a song about heart break; like this one. Thank God this band was formed
