THE WAY WE WERE Lyrics - Barbra Streisand
Review The Song (1)
Memories
Light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?
Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
Light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?
Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

Is it LIGHT or LIKE | Reviewer: brother doc | 10/16/09
Until today I always thought the first line, as above, is LIGHT the corners...but a friend (from the era) swears it's Memories LIKE the corners of my mind. I can't believe that's right. What is the official published version, not just some amateur trying to write down words he/she hears on a recording?
