Sunrise Lyrics - The Who

Review The Song (6)

You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Once more you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Once more you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

Sometimes I fear that this will go on my life through
Each day I spend in an echoed vision of you
And then again I'll turn down love
Remembering your smile

My every day is spent
Thinking of you all the while

The times I've let myself down
My head's spinning 'round
My eyes see only you
The chances I've lost
Opportunities tossed
Away and into the blue

You take away the breath I was keeping for sunrise
You appear and the morning looks drab in my eyes
And then again I'll turn down love
Having seen you again
Then again you'll disappear
My morning put to shame

Stunning Vocal Performance | Reviewer: Dave O. | 9/1/11

Pete's vocals are amazing on this song and on par with other great Townshend vocal performances like "The Song Is Over" and the bridge on "Bargain". I just never understood why this song never received the acclaim it deserved. (Born in 1963)

The Who changed my life | Reviewer: James | 12/12/09

I was born at the tail end of 1972. But the Who saved my life,no question, when they blasted into my life in 1988. I wouldn't have made it without their old records and concert videos. The best band ever in the universe.

Genius! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/3/09

Thankfully, I was born/lived in the right decade - lol. so much amazing music in the late 1960's. pete townsend's stellar acoustic guitar and angelic vocals were definitely ahead of his time and showed a humble romantic side, as compared to much of the Who's crunchy rock sound. I was fortunate to see them live around 1967, when they were the OPENING ACT for Herman's Hermits and the BLues Magoos. Stole the show, to say the least. The Who Sell Out, from which this song is on, remains one of my all time favorite albums, very inventine and creative for the day.

I was born in the wrong decade too. Definatly awesome who. check out the petra hayden version on petra hayden sings "the who sell out" also. awesome.

Beautiful | Reviewer: Sarah | 11/25/07

It's a beautiful song, Pete sings it brilliantly. It just sends shivers up my spine. No other music can do that to me like The Who's can. I was born in the wrong decade.

Takes away my breath | Reviewer: Dave | 8/23/07

One of The Who's least noticed and most exquisite numbers. The performance is breathless, the dissonance stunning. And -- when I first heard it back when it was new -- I felt exactly the same way!
