Starlight Lyrics

Performed by Muse
Review The Song (93)

Far away
This ship has taken me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
Starlight
I will be chasing a starlight
Until the end of my life
I don't know if it's worth it anymore

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold you in my arms

My life
You electrify my life
Let's conspire to ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive

I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away

Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold you in my arms

Far away
This ship has taken me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die

I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away

Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold

my life | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/25/11

when i listen to this song i always think about the girl i love. because of my studies i had to go away from my home city and i cant see her very often.

By the way this song is the best song i ever heard.

Completely Beautiful | Reviewer: MUSEobssessed.. | 8/28/11

This song is just beautiful. I don't say that about many songs, but this one deserves the title - The notes really strike a chord somewhere inside me, and many others I'd imagine.. The lyrics send shivers down my spine, and, as with all Muse songs, you can hear the raw emotion and meaning in Matt's voice. He is the most interesting, influental and inspiring person in the world of music, and I absolutely love him. Thankyou Muse, for changing my life(: xx

a strong love/bond | Reviewer: ichigo15 | 7/31/11

I think that the lyrics are about two people who have a strong relationship or bond and, for some reason, one has to leave. (From the boys point of veiw) He doesnt want her to go and wants to hold her and love her. "i'll never let you go, if you promise not to fade away" Fading away could represent them leaving. It's like their fading from their heart. "i just wanted to hold you in my arms" when she does leave, he misses her and wants her in his arms once more.

A song that speaks many words! | Reviewer: CMM | 6/23/11

This is such a great song because it can be interpreted in anyway you want.
For me, it is so poignant as it came on the radio when we were driving home from hospital with our daughter for the first time, she was nearly 6 months old having been born very prematurely. It was a very bitter sweet moment, one we thought we would never see and also great sadness at knowing that some of the families we met never got to bring their children home.

''Far away
This ship has taken me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die''

That hospital was our home for almost half a year!

''Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold you in my arms..''

She was a month old before we even held her.

This song makes me cry with mixed emotions every time I hear it!

Agreement | Reviewer: Rowy | 3/14/11

I am in complete agreement with Wills' lengthy comment!
I love the fact that this song can be interpreted in so many different ways and thus strike a chord with so many people nad their experiences and I think this is one of the Muse's best, most enduring songs - which is saying something, when talking about such a great (in all great's meanings) band!

hold u in my arms | Reviewer: siggy | 8/30/10

Must is by far one of th best progressive rock groups I'm the world hAving said that, this song appeals to so many who can identify with its oftentimes nostalgic but always strong committment to the individual journey we take in life. For those of us whose destinies are starlight bound, know the journey to the worlds arms has it trials too.

awesome! | Reviewer: Calmeister | 8/17/10

This song is about Gaia Polloni - whom which was Matthew's girlfriend. "Black holes & Revelations" is about the mind Black holes are the things we dont know, or dont think about, and revelations are the things we remember :)

love | Reviewer: lover | 5/11/10

I actually think it's about an unreachable girl and he is trying everything to make her his but doesn't know if it is still worth chasing her because he has been carried away from the people who really love him.

Assumed it was about someone in the Navy! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/21/10

I have loved this song for some time but it really hit home the day I was driving my husband to the Navy base where he would deploy on an aircraft carrier for months. The song just spoke to me and I was convinced that this singer must have been in the Navy and in our exact situation in the past! It's funny how it speaks to everyone in such different ways. It also hit home for us because we are considering him leaving the Navy because the deployments make it not worth the sacrifice of leaving his family behind for large chunks of time. The lyrics "I don't know if it's worth it anymore..." spelled it out. Also, becuase I didn't understand a few of the lyrics, I really thought he was saying "I will be chasing the starlight" which to us meant he was a pilot, like my husband, and would be soaring the skies under the starlight. Anyway...that's my take!
GREAT SONG! Tearjerker for sure!

Interstellar traveler re. | Reviewer: Trevor | 4/10/10

In reality the song is about a real ship as in the music video and the metaphor lies in the phrase "our hopes and expectations / black holes and revelations"

But honestly, your idea John sounds way cooler lol
