Queen Sheer Heart Attack Lyrics

Last updated: 09/19/2013 09:58:29 AM

Words and music by Roger Taylor

Well you're just 17 and all you want to do is disappear
You know what I mean there's a lot of space between your
ears
The way that you touch don't feel no nothin'
Hey hey hey hey it was the D.N.A.
Hey hey hey hey that made me this way
Do you know do you know do you know just how I feel?
Do you know do you know do you know just how I feel?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

I feel so in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar-tic-u-late

Gotta feelin' gotta feelin' gotta feelin' like a paralyse
It ain't no it ain't no it ain't no it ain't no surprise
Turn on the TV let it drip right down in your eyes
Hey hey hey hey it was the D.N.A.
Hey hey hey hey that made me this way
Do you know do you know do you know just how I feel?
Do you know do you know do you know just how I feel?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

I feel so in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar in-ar-tic-u-late

Just how I feel
Do you know do you know do you know do you know just
how I feel?

Do you know do you know do you know just how I feel?
Do you know do you know do you know do you know just
how I feel?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

Apparently, this song is about how queen wanted to out-punk all punk bands. They made it after the incident when sid vicous was in queen's studio recording "News of the World" and gave Freddie a nasty comment about bringing ballet to the masses.

I for one, being the greatest queen fan in the world, found this song very annoying at first but listened to it a little more and fell in love with it after a while. now me and my band play this song all the time.

Stop crying and b*tch*ng about Queen's style. Every song that they made had a different style, punk, opera-rock, hard-rock, pop-rock and etc. You can't even compare those shitt* punk bands from the 70's with Queen. It's like compare a stone with a mountain.

Spoof-punk | Reviewer: Mickey | 2/25/09

That's what Queen called the style of this track. So it's not Queen jumping into punk, it's Queen jumping ON punk--they are trying to rock harder than "real" punk bands with lyrics that tweak the punk image (the "I feel so in-ar in-ar in-ar" line is a joke).

And, to be clear, this song kicks ass.

Better than most?! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/16/07

I just listened to some "real" punk bands of this time and noticed that Queen's Sheer is better than most of the others' songs... And i don't think Queen jumped on just because it was hip! They cover such a broad spectrum of musical genres that it's no surprise they did a "punk" track as well. Their diversity is visible throughout their career. Listen to '39, Crazy little Thing Called Love, It's Late, Radio GaGa... just to mention a few...

It seems that every progressive band of the early 70s tried to go punk in 1977... Queen with News of the World, Gentle Giant with The Missing Piece, etc. News of the World is still quite a good album, less this atrocity.
