Root Lyrics - Deftones

Review The Song (3)

To be forced under and look up to your home because
We gave our eyes but no one will yes I know because
To heed the cause I will be barred but you won't
We are here to love heart he's up inside We start to cry
Just because I will afford, living in me is so poor
Deliver me----there
To be judged by one or licked by three
And your holes enclose
We gave our eyes but no one will yes I know because
To heed the cause I will be barred but you won't
We are here to love heart it's up inside We start to cry
Just because I will afford, Living in me is so poor
Deliver me----up!!!
Cannont f**k to be me and you won't find me
And you won't find me and you will don't know me--psycho
I don't believe you will find me
sponsored links
And you won't find me and you will so come from--a psycho
I don't believe you will find me
And you won't find me and you will don't quit--psycho
I don't believe you will find me
I'm in trouble because playing god
I and me we go with Jesus in a bowl of dirt
Yeah, Yeah, so poor, I will fly

Its about how a blind man can see better in the dark... Forced under is turmoil. Giving eyes is metaphorical to seeing what we always seem to not see. He chooses turmoil and true site compared to the other which is not barred. Who wants to give their eyes but a person that has site but doesn't see. He admits we need to love but his heart is stuck inside. He will afford what he feels for a better insight. Its about finding a divinity...

Perhaps Lonnie but this song was released at least 14 years ago (1995 or even earlier as this was a demo song I believe). I'm not entirely sure but I don't think that the immigration issue/problem was at the same height back then as it has been in more recent times. I prefer not to break down the lyrics when listening to the Deftones and just appreciate it for what it is...

song meaning? | Reviewer: Lonnie | 7/16/09

This is a really great song but i dont really know what the song means. I think after careful reading that this song might be about mexican immigrants, i know but bare with me a few parts kinda confrim this, for example "To be forced under I look unto your home, because
We gave our eyes but no one will" this probably means that the mexican sees the american dream house and feels abit envious and maybe the mexican and other illegals built the house or did some type hard labor u know cuz illegals do the jobs that other people dont want to do. "To be judged by one or licked by three and your holes enclose" to be judge by one might be about a governer judging them ,or licked by 3 might be about getting a licking or a beating by 3 patrol units or cops, it also says the holes enclose that could mean the borders are tighting and its getting harder for the illegas to get in as they are no longer welcomed. And finally the song is titled Root maybe refering to chinos ethinic backroung and his roots. I might just be over thinking it but you never know with deftones lyrics as most of them are multi meaning.
