Rock and Roll Lyrics - Led Zeppelin

Review The Song (9)

It's been a long time since I rock-and-rolled
It's been a long time since I did the Stroll
Ooh, let me get it back, let me get it back, let me get it back
mm-baby, where I come from
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Yes, it has

It's been a long time since the book of love
I can't count the tears of a life with no love
A-carry me back, carry me back, carry me back
mm-baby, where I come from,whoa-whoa, whoa-oh-oh-hoh
Its been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah

Hoh, it's been so long since we walked in the moonlight
a-making vows that just can't work right

Baby let my love come runinng in, a-yeah
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.

Yeah, hey, yay, hey, yeah, hey, yeah, hey
Ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah

Never | Reviewer: Jacques | 4/6/13

Never will there be another Led Zep. Or any great Rock 'n Roll band in today's commercial/disposable era.

Well, we got the music of the greats from the 60s and 70s. And it's here to stay. Long live Rock 'n Roll. Long live.

Peace.

Tell me you didn't say that | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/14/11

james shut up, youre really going to say that Bonzo isnt the best cuz Grohl gets up and plays guitar too? so i guess that makes Page the greatest ever because he can play a drums too, or or how about JPJ being the greatest ever because he could play mandolin and keyboards. Shut up Grohl can't touch Bonham even on his best day

Drum Solos | Reviewer: James | 7/26/11

The only drum influenced song more than this is either moby dick or in the air tonight. Respect to Phil but no one dares try to match the legendary Jonh Bonham, he was on a level that no other drummer has reached and i don't think ever will. the most talented drummer of all time is Dave Grohl who else can get up and play guitar to 80 000 people then play drums to this song with Paige and Jones at Wembley. Those that were lucky enough to be there would know that at times in this song you thought that Bonzo came back from the grave for one last hurrah

The greatest Drum Riff ?... | Reviewer: Andrzej | 6/9/11

Alongside Motorhead's Overkill and Guns n Roses You Could Be Mine - this has to be one of the greatest drum riffs of all time.

With all 3 of them, you know instantly (with no other instruments) exactly which song you're listenning to :-)

Best Rock Song Ever | Reviewer: Charles Austin Miller | 4/21/11

Actually, the drum set does not "lead" in Zep's "Rock and Roll" — this song is as rhythm-driven as it can be, and it's written like old blues. Try it some time, it's easy as hell to play, just slow it WAAAY down and play that blues rhythm and you'll see what I mean. And you better believe they knew it was a blues song — THEN they plugged Bonzo in and let him RIP.

Thank You Bonzo | Reviewer: Steve | 3/10/11

This is one of the few rock songs where the drum is clearly the lead. It's as if Bonham comes out in the first notes and says: "Come on Jimmy Page...stay with me if you can." Probably my all time favorite rock and roll song...no pun intended.

"Rock and Roll" - Led Zeppelin | Reviewer: Patrick | 4/28/05

In the years of the mid '70s, Led Zeppelin was at its prime. The members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham were writing the best music anybody had ever heard; eventually all 9 original Led Zeppelin albums made Billboard's Top 200, and the charts have never seen such a feat before or since.

Coming from Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album, often referred to as "Zoso", "Led Zeppelin IV" and less commonly "Four Symbols", the song "Rock and Roll" became a concert favorite wherever they played. With a heavy beat coming from Bonzo, blindingly fast riffs and solos from Jimmy, an amazing set of lyrics with an equally amazing set of vocal chords belonging to Percy, and the most recognizable drum solo ending in the world, this song has been revered as one of Led Zeppelin's finest, blowing every other band out of the water with a nuclear warhead.
