Ordinary World Lyrics - Duran Duran
Review The Song (4)
Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue,
Thought I heard you talking softly.
I turned on the lights, the TV and the radio,
Still I can't escape the ghost of you.
What has happened to it all?
"Crazy," some would say.
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away...
But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.
Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say:
"Pride will tear us both apart."
Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, run away,
Left me in the vacuum of my heart.
What is happening to me?
"Crazy," some would say.
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away...
But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.
(Ooh, Ahh, Ooh)
Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed.
Fear today, forgot tomorrow... ooh
Here beside the news of holy war and holy need,
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk, just blown away
And I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.
(Everyone,..
If My World...
Everyone...
Any world...
Is my world...
Every world...
Is our world...
Anyone.
Thought I heard you talking softly.
I turned on the lights, the TV and the radio,
Still I can't escape the ghost of you.
What has happened to it all?

a source of your past melodramatic pasts...also melodious and it suits your mind while in the mood of reflecting... very meaningful and poetic, love u duran duran, love the tribute by some rock bands.

This is a lovely song...But although I like Duran Duran's original, I must say that I personally like the remix of it by Aurora feat. Naimee Coleman better. Nonetheless, the lyrics to this song are both sad and uplifting. A truly beautiful, ravishing song.
Wonderful | Reviewer: Stuart | 3/17/07
I love this song... can't figure out why, it seems sad and introspective but also optimistic, it strikes such a note with me.
Melodious | Reviewer: Jasleen | 7/9/05
This non-typical Duran Duran song is what got me to check out the rest of the songs from this band. A beautiful, delicately sung, melodious song.
