Review about One Metallica is perfect - no crossover needed! | Reviewer: HipHopFanLovesMetallica | 10/7/09
Dang, Anonymous (4/18/09), while I agree with you - Metallica does what they do perfectly without crossing over...you could have been a little nicer to us hip hop fans out there! For miguel...I think that Rock groups that "work" with hip hop probably needed to do so to carve out their own niche (not knocking them - they do it well). But, Metallica's niche is the entire Rock world - and they're not yielding!
Anyhow, One is one of the first songs I heard from Metallica (Enter Sandman and Sad But True were the other firsts) and the intro is ridiculous, the lyrics are amazing and the rest just blew me away! As a lifelong hip hop fan, until I heard Metallica's music, I hadn't even entertained the idea of listening to Rock (or Metal?). Now, I'm sure my Metallica collection equals (or surpasses) any other artist in my music library!
Johny got his gun | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/9/09
So you want to know what this song means. Just watch the movie Johny Got His Gun and you will get it. Metallica made this song about this movie and later bought the entire legal rights on the movie so they can use it in their videoclip. Watch the movie it's awesome
On an emotional level | Reviewer: Alex | 8/5/09
I don't think this song is totally about physical pain. I think it has alot to do with emotional or mental pain as well. As if someone was trapped in their tortured mind, unable to escape the pain of what they've been through, war or otherwise.
Like they are missing their limbs and unable to move away from the source of their pain. The want to "scream" and reach out but the silence and pain in their life stops them.
I think it also references leaving hardship and pain behind but still having that depression lingering.
As for the landmine, I think that is a reference to the source of all of the pain.
Just my 2 cents. Maybe i'm totally off. Idk. That's what i get out of this song though.

one is a perfect blend of two types of rock and pulls them both off, alot of people i know describe the type of music they like as "the first half of One" i personally think the whole song is amazing and think mettallica are awsome!!!!!

One is simply a musical fireball which demolishes everything in her way, including yourself. It did to me at least. I listen to it for the first time when i was 11, and i just couldn't belive my ears. This was a masterpiece like it has never been written before. You don't loosen up until the last note is complete.
Best song in this world.
METALLICA 4EVER!!!
peace...
Music | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/6/09
Music is about the feel. Who gives a shit if it has amazing solos or not. Look at Rammstein, they hardly use complex solos in their work, yet it is still good to listen to. The Who didn't use blazing guitar solos either, does that make them suck? It's about the music as a whole, and what fits for the song. You can't put Raining Blood's solo(Slayer) into a Bob Marley song.

One is my number one fav song by Metallica. love it, it's what got me into Metallica. Metallica ROCKS!!!!!
and miguel, no, they should not get rappers involved because is is for cum guzzling wannabe gangster cunts. do not disrespect Metalliac by bringing rap into something about them.
Metallica is one of the best rock bands, to me, they are the theme song of my life. i started to listen to them 7 years ago. i like one, st. anger. sad but true, feul, and all nightmare long. i still wait for more. might i suggest that they should be like linkin park, work with rappers. that would make metallica known to hip hop listeners. all n all god bless metallicaaaa!!!!!
coma | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/15/09
As i understand the lyrics to this song
I get that they are written refering to someone who is in bed in the middle of a coma, he lost all of his limbs thanks to a land mine, he is connected to machines that feed him and help his blood flow

OK this has just turned into an arguement. The song's lyrics are inspired by the book "Johnny Got His Gun" in which a soldier wakes up in hospital to find a landmine has destoyed his arms, legs, ears, eyes, mouth and nose and he is a prisoner in his own body. He attempts to communicate by banging his head against his pillow and eventually forms a bond with a nurse. He wishes to be taken around the world in a glass case to display the horrors of war. The book is certainly anti-war even if the song isnt. The solo is pretty amazing but I've heard better (Eruption by Van Halen). Now stop arguin and enjoy the song.
