Oh Me Lyrics - Nirvana

Review The Song (34)

If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do

I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
But that's old news.

Would you like to hear my voice
Sprinkled with emotion
Invented at your birth?

I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse I cannot see
I formulate infinity
and store it deep inside of me

If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do

I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
And that's old news

Would you like to hear my voice
Sprinkled with emotion
Invented at your birth?

I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse I cannot see

(x2)
I formulate infinity
and store it deep inside of me

Curt Kirkwood was obviously just as talented as Kurt was, the only difference was the fact that Kurt could do something no one else can, when he sings it can sound like he just got done gargling nails, but it still has the raw emotion, and that soft complexity that could sing a small child to sleep. Kurt wrote his lyrics so they would be a contridiction in themselves. all of those oxymoron phrases where a direct ways of showing his own self, wanting to suceed, while also wanting to fail....hating he was famous, yet publically trying to become even more so. knowing he was an icon, while trying to ignore it, all at the same time.

LOL, this is a MEAT PUPPETS's song, so shut up about Cobain already! He was a great musician, but so is Curt Kirkwood - and HE wrote this song, so you should be dissecting the going ons in HIS head, not Cobain's...

This is how Kurt could touched feelings, even with a cover song from Meat Puppets. Well, I've started listening to Nirvana when I'm 12 yrs old in 1996, and learnt that Kurt had already died much later. Read lots about him. He is simply the best, living with depression and writing great lyrics expressing his feelings. He has his own opinion, lyrics are written carefully and choose the meanings to be unclear.

You people are totally lost. I've been reading lots of opinions about what inspired kurt and all that bullshit. Well i have news for you: this is not a cobain's song. It's from the meat puppets. So you're all losing your time saying all this stuff.

people, kurt always said that people look into the meaning of his lyrics way to much. because of his depression i dont think he could see the beauty and complexity of his own art. i dont think he was aware of his music actually being his projections of life. and giving meanings to music is the best part about nirvana, because they read on so many levels. its narrow minded to think his songs dont have deep meanings. like that song aneurysm clearly about shooting up. but obviously he cant tell people that. maybe he didnt want people thinking they knew wat was going through his head. maybe telling people that his songs had no meanings alowed him to express himself more without being judged.

all real music has a deep meaning. its not music if it doesnt. for example alot of radio music which is made to please the minds that are sucked up in society.

Nirvana was real.

Don't know if it was already pointed out or not, I could care less to read through everyone's opinions about this song, they are all personal and amount to nothing in the end accept to the person who owns it.......that being said its "Formulate affinity stored deep inside me"

Personally, I think the name of the band is an indication of what Kurt's interests were. Interpreted in a Buddhist light this song makes perfect sense. I understand Kurt was not the songwriter, but I can see why he enjoyed it.

In Buddhism the sense of self (Atman) is a false construct of the mind. The monk attempts to change his mind to eradicate any trace of this core delusion. There are factual statements to be made about the monks journey, however they are in practice realizations and self-actualizations and not simply facts. With the abolition of self one becomes synonymous with ultimate reality. A basic teaching is that we are All and All is us. The Hindu tradition of Advaita Vedanta is probably a precursor of Buddhism. Advaita holds that all is Brahman and our true state is Anatta (non self-hood). The self rather is simply an illusion brought about by awareness. The purest state is of course Nirvana (Nibbana).

In that sense, we are everything, "our whole expanse, we cannot see" and we formulate infinity or affinity, whatever we do is perfect. Its old news. Perhaps first and foremost, the loss of the soul/self.

you obviously don't know what you're talking about if you're trying to decipher this song. Even if this is a Meat Puppets song, Kurt hated it when people tried to find meaning in songs. and i think he's right, songs should be open ended, unfinished. not scrutinized, torn apart, and then reassembled to the whims of petty fans like you and me.

and G&R are sub-par to Nirvana. hardly a comparison at all. they do painful covers of great songs. Knockin' on Heavens Door was an amazing ballad by Mr. Bob Dylan, and it was raped by G&R.

I never put anything on this site intil now. For "Red". | Reviewer: Tim | 12/2/09

First of all your getting Hippy mixed up with emo in which we all are unless your a robot because emo only means emotional, nothing more.
Also, Slash and GnR were assholes that (even you said) did more drugs and drinking and you think they are still better then kurt and nirvana.
Kurt was also a very great song writer. It is true some of his lyrics don't make sense, he wanted it that way because he was trying to say something. But when he did write songs with meanings (which was frequent) they were a lot deeper than any good ol' GnR songs.
I know you said to not to respond but when you go on and be A douche and diss a pretty much all around nice guy who achieved a lot more than you most likely will, if you become insanely famous I will apologize.

WTF? | Reviewer: The 13 Year Old Hippie | 11/2/09

Come on! do not put so much head in the thing! Smells is a freaking good song, it doesn't matter if has sense or not. Kurt is, easyly, a fucking amazing singer. This is a cover of Meat Puppets, like Lake of Fire and Plateau. In my opinion, they're fucking much better.
If he won money? Sure he did, but we dont care about it. Why? cuz we only hear the music, we dont care if the guy buy expensive clothes, or whatever. Enjoy the music, that's it.
I dont understand why the people even take the work to say bad things about something. If u dont like it, well just dont hear it. We dont care you'r opinion Mister Critical.
Seriously.. save your words to someone that really cares about them, Mister I'm Better Than Everybody. If you think too smart, you are just speaking poor Bulshit, ok?
With the terrible small speech of the one that knows everything you only stay as the joke in the group of fans.
The problem is that he killed himself?
So what! Is his damn life, if he wanted to end with it, he just could.
Deal with it, WE DONT CARE YOUR FUCKING OPINION, OKAY?
With love, the hippie that wont be able to sleep 2nite.
