My Fairy King Lyrics - Queen
Review The Song (16)
Words and music by Freddie Mercury
In the land where horses born with eagle wings
And honey bees have lost their stings
There's singing forever to you
Lions den with fallow deer
And rivers made from wines so clear
Flow on and on forever
Dragons fly like sparrows thru' the air
And baby lambs where Samson dares
To go on on on on on on
My fairy king can see things
He rules the air and turns the tides
That are not there for you and me
Ooh yeah he guides the winds
My fairy king can do right and nothing wrong
Then came man to savage in the night
To run like thieves and to kill like knives
To take away the power from the magic hand
To bring about the ruin to the promised land
They turn the milk into sour
Like the blue on the blood of my veins
Why can't you see it
Fire burnin' in hell with the cry of a streaming pain
Son of heaven set me free and let me go
Sea turns dry no salt from sand
Seasons find no helping hand
Teeth don't shine like pearls for poor man's eye, no more.
Someone someone has drained the colour from my wings
Broken my fairy circle ring
And shamed the king in all his pride
Changed the winds and wronged the tides
Look what they've done to me
I cannot run I cannot hide

First off, to: chloe meddows taylor | 11/7/12, I laughed out loud that you felt the need to correct others for mis-typing Taylor's and Mercury's first names (totally skipping out on Freddie's REAL name: Farrokh Bulsara); and then proceed to mis-spell "song".
I'm not going to try and give a Review of this Song in any way other than to say, I absolutely LOVE this song, and have for many, many years now. Have been an avid Queen Fan since '77 (First Album I ever purchased was A Night at the Opera). I urge anyone reading this thread, if interested in My Fairy King even remotely, listen to the entire 1st album, then just continue on with II, Sheer Heart Attack, right on down the line. You will NOT be disappointed.

In the book, "10 Guitar Greats" Brian cited My Fairy King as the musical direction the band was moving towards in exploring theme, composition, harmonies and overdubs. In a sense, My Fairy King was their early "A-HA!!" moment. MFK always seemed a bit out of place on Q1 for me but with a bit more production value it would have been a grand inclusion on Q2, the album MFK probably belonged on.

Ermagerd! | Reviewer: chloe meddows taylor | 11/7/12
Okay first off, some one spelt Roger wrong, it's Roger, not rodger. Secondly, Freddie, not freddy. Okay, now I can relax.
This sone is so amazing, I run around doing the falsettos and this song gets stuck in my head for about two weeks at a time
Being a really young Queen fan is FABULOUS, DARLING! (I am 14)
Queen is the best | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/4/10
I wish they had played this song live it would have been magical...and also I wish there was some video footage of the song I would have loved to see Freddie jam on the piano like that. Especialy at the end. Pure magic.
such a religious lyric | Reviewer: Monoposto | 7/26/10
i am the one of a person who believes that's a real happening somewhere out in space or here once in a history. freddie already saw it. they bring and deliver all of the magical imaginations from that world to this restricted world, until freddie died. actually 'my fairy king' in the lyric, and 'you' in the song 'too much love will kill you' seems to be the same. it's all about god, love and tragedy in the end.

At the beginning of this song, I couldn't believe anyone could ever go as high as Rog did, and Freddie, I love this song!!!! He put heaps of expression into it, and the lyrics were wonderful. Great harmonies as well.

One of Freddie's best songs! It already shows the band's ability to change their style. It is full of harmonies. Freddie puts in a wonderful singing with a beautiful and nuanced voice. The whole band plays it fantastically. The song already shows what kind of Queen were going to be. Great talent. "My Fairy King" is definitely one of my favourite song of the album "Queen".
No one but Queen | Reviewer: Robin | 3/3/08

In my opinion this is a genius song; such originality!
I read the comments above and I, too, saw "The Untold Story" and as my tribute to Freddie, when I grow up (I'm only 13), I will write a book in which I'll mention Freddie and he'll be a big part in my story. I think he was an absolute genius in music and he will always live in my heart!
I love this song more than Bohemian Rhapsody! | Reviewer: Becca | 11/24/07
This song can easily get stuck in my head, which is a good thing 'cause this is one of the greatest songs ever. Sadly...today is Freddie Mercury's death date. (November, 24th..it kind of says that..)*tear REST IN PEACE, FARROHK BULSARA.
Amazing! | Reviewer: David | 6/14/07
I just love how the song turns from high and low, aggressive to soft, and strong and weak.
Awesome! | Reviewer: Nati | 6/12/07
I saw "Freddie Mercury:The Untold Story" and Brian says there that he made up his LAST NAME, not NICKNAME from those exact words in that song... I LOVE QUEEN!! I have made the commitment of owning all 15 albums... Although they probably only sell them in the U.K.
Anyways AMAAAZING song!!:P
