Loose Lips Lyrics - Kimya Dawson

Review The Song (25)

loose lips might sink ships but loose gooses take trips
to san francisco, double dutch disco,
tech tv hottie, do it for scotty
do it for the living and do it for the dead
do it for the monsters under your bed
do it for the teenagers and do it for your mom
broken hearts hurt but they make you strong and

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we're just dancing, we're just hugging,
singing, screaming, kissing, tugging
On the sleeve of how it used to be

how's it gonna be?
i'll drop kick russell stover, move into the starting over house
and know matt rouse and jest are watching me achieve my dreams

and we'll pray, all damn day, every day,
that all this shit our president has got us in will go away
while we strive to figure out a way we can survive
these trying times without losing our minds

so if you wanna burn yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna cut yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna kill yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
call me up before your dead, we can make some plans instead
send me an IM, i'll be your friend

shysters live from scheme to scheme but my 4th quarter pipe dreams
are seeming more and more worth fighting for
so i'll curate some situations, make my job a big vacation
and i'll say FUCK BUSH AND FUCK THIS WAR
my war paint is sharpie ink and i'll show you how much my shit stinks
ask you what you think because your thoughts and words are powerful
they think we're disposable, well both my thumbs opposable
spelled out on a double word and triple letter score and

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we won't stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we'll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

we're just dancing, we're just hugging,
singing, screaming, kissing, tugging
On the sleeve of how it used to be

That is all. | Reviewer: Katie Maree | 7/1/13

"I was sitting on the floor watching Johnny play, on his knees on a carpet not on the stage, in front of a fire in the living room, cozy and warm full of potluck food but if one day suddenly Johnny got huge I'd be glad that you knew Johnny too because his songs are smart, important, brave. Wanting that all to myself would be TOTALLY LAME. I don't claim to be Regina's only true fan just because I knew her way back when. Do you think Cat Stevens couldn't be my god just because I heard him first in Harold and Maude? I followed his albums, I listened, I cried teaser and the firecat changed my life. I painted the firecat on my jean jacket. I drew peace trains on my homework packet. I'm still listening to the wind of my soul. I'm a hard headed woman so I've been told. Yeah music's just sound, we're just ears why are you affected by what, who hears it? If Michael Jacksons sins made him less sacred than you taking your clothes off makes me less naked."

I guess you can say I found Kimya through Juno? I never watched the movie, but I found the opening song to it on youtube, and that lead me to the suggestions where I found Kimya.

This was the first song I heard from her and I instantly fell in love. She may not have the best voice (even though I think it's amazing), but her songs have meaning to them. And they mean a lot to me. They opened my mind to new ideas and made me stronger and proud of who I am. I'm a lot happier because I can let myself feel this way and I don't feel alone, because I know Kimya feels this way too. So if I ever get lost, I can always listen to her songs and find myself again.

Thank you Kimya Dawson for not being afraid and breaking the mold (: I do hope you become more mainstream so more people can feel inspired by your poetry, just never change what you believe in or who you are if you ever do.

Thank you. | Reviewer: Sheridyn | 10/3/11

I actually didn't hear this from Juno...
I've been going through a slight depression and I've been having a rough time just making it through the day. I told my friend Gwin this and she did everything she could to cheer me up, but not much helped.
Then she sent me an email that said...
"so if you wanna burn yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna cut yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna kill yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
call me up before your dead, we can make some plans instead
send me an IM, i'll be your friend!"
This song is amazing and helped me out of my depression. And now I listen to it whenever I'm sad.

love you | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/20/10

i really love this song, i found her threw juno (like many other people) it opend my mind to this whole new world i never though could exist. she makes me feel happy even when im so sad or pissed off at the world. her music reminds me that everything goes away eventually so who gives a shit! she also taught me to live life to the fullest. i know that sounds cliqusha but its true. and i feel really similar to her. liking someone but never talking to them, i do like you! and having my life being a roller coaster. it all makes sense now thanks kimya!

WOW!! | Reviewer: carlitos | 12/6/09

just because some people(including me) heard about kimya from juno doesn't mean we're not fans i like her music because it's good not because it was in juno
This is one of my more favorite songs and im glad that i discovered hermusic even if it was from a movie

just listen to the music | Reviewer: Wylie | 10/20/09

It's pretty selfish to not want Kimya Dawson to get more publicity. I discovered her through juno which opened up this new world of music that I didn't even know existed. That doesn't make me a bad person. I'm glad it happened. And I don't listen to her music just because of juno either, but even if I did, what do you care?
I'm not gonna go all political about music because people make it more complicated than it is. If you like the song, if the lyrics mean something to you, then listen to it. If not, don't. Simple.
It's not like "hollywood" stole Kimya dawson's songs away from her. Don't you realize she was probably thrilled to become better known and to have more fans? This isn't about her (I guess the word is jealous?) fans. If you DO actually listen to her music, you would be happy to have more people share in the joy of it, not want to somehow claim it as your own. We all love this song, and her other songs too :)
This song means so much to me and to so many other people too.

P.S. i love how the part about Bush is in caps haha

call me up before you're dead | Reviewer: maddie | 10/15/09

thank god for the juno movie!! i'm a big indie fan but i had never heard of kimya until i say the movie, and i'm not ashamed to say it.so despite all the rage people seem to have about how big they are now, and i get that you like feeling special cuz you knew them and other people didn't, i'm glad this movie made them bigger. and this song is my favorite!

Shush | Reviewer: hilsy, | 10/6/09

Okay, I am so sick of Indie fans getting all high and mighty. Congrats on discovering the band before we did but get the fuck off your high horse and imagine being an amazing band without air time coz your fans never spread the word about how amazing you are, in case, god forbid, you became mainstream. I'm not saying it's a little ridiculous how massive Juno made Kimya Dawson, I agree with that, but I couldn't care less. I've got bands I've loved since they were tiny and guess what, now that people love them they can afford to do underage shows that aren't in pubs and hotels, so all their fans can actually enjoy their music.
Shush, and unless you're a better musician than Kimya (which I highly doubt) just shush and let everyone enjoy the music.
Send me an IM, I'll be your friend.
Just kidding :)

Get over yourselves. | Reviewer: Laura | 8/20/09

So what if you have heard of Kimya Dawson before it was on Juno? Kimya did decide to allow her music to be on the film, she's not exactly just going to turn down such a big offer, because her old stuck up fans don't want other people to hear/like her music. I've been fans of other artists and bands before they were publically known, but I don't have huge rants at people for knowing them after I did. Get over yourselves.

get over it people | Reviewer: Jesska | 4/11/09

Yeah, so everyone has their opinions on the subject of Kimya Dawson and the Moldy Peaches , but so what, the point of this review is to let people know what you thought of the song, not that you have known of Kimya Dawson and/or The Moldy Peaches longer than everyone else, I agree with all the REAL fans (not ashley) who say that you should be super happy that everyone else gets to experience the greatness of Kimya Dawson :)

Anyway, on with the review, I thought this song was one of the best by far on the movie Juno, and the song's Kimya chose for the movie were amazing, the movie wouldn't of been the same without her input, I really like the political stabs, but also the slight humour to the song :)

I hope that the movie Juno has made everyone come to appreciate just how talented some of the lesser known artists of the indie scene really are, it just goes to show that you don't need to present a half-naked booty shaking skank on your music video's for you to have talent, some people have a natural, un-corrupted talent that can only be found in some super talented people, like Kimya :)

Peace out children x

i think it's awesome that kimya and the moldy peaches are finally getting some credit. hurrah for indie bands who finally make it big. in case some people forgot (ashley), artists go into music to make it so lots of people can appreciate it, not just a few pretentious music hoarders who just love going around listening to "obscure" music so they can brag to everyone how they heard it first. it doesn't really make you cool, it makes you look like a huge jerk and a major poser. real fans want everyone to love the music that they do. so good for juno and good for kimya for getting her stuff mainstream, because it rocks and i think everyone should listen and appreciate it.

Are you guys serious? | Reviewer: Phred | 12/28/08

Does it really matter how long someone has been a fan? That's like saying punk is dead and everyone with spiked up and/or multicolored hair is a poser, when in actuality, it's just evolved.
Oops, I nearly started a rant on the wrong subject.
In my humble opinion, you're an idiot. You heard of Kimya Dawson because of 'Juno?' F*ck you, you're not a real fan!
A real fan of this artist is someone who enjoys her musick, that's all the qualification needed.
Furthermore, why would she agree to that soundtrack if she didn't want people to hear her musick in that movie?
It's not like she was instantly catapulted to the mainstream or anything.

Ok, song review time. It's really catchy, and I covered it at a show a few months ago. I love Kimya's songwriting and simple melodies, she's beautifully childish. I think her most potent quote, though, is, "I am a goat, in a moat, with a boat. Who's got the crack?"

Love thesong, love the artist, kinda hate the fans after reading this tripe. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/3/08

That's right, kids! Kimya Dawson should stay underground! Never you mind how getting exposure could possibly lead to more fans, and more gigs, hence more money in her pocket. I'm sure she started singing just for you, and I'm sure she would've loved to keep herself under wraps. Grow up. It's a big world out here.

true dat | Reviewer: movement | 10/9/08

yeah i agree Juno did blow up kimya and the moldy peaches. in a good and bad way. yay for kimya but not for her old fans who know whats up. not only did jumo blow her up but in the song anyone else but you. they didn't even sing the lyrics in order just the lovey dovey ones and the other parts of the song is what truly makes it amazing and diffrent. so f*** Juno although it was a good movie.
