Letter to Me Lyrics
Artist(Band):Brad Paisley
If I could write a letter to me
And send it back in time to myself at 17
First I’d prove it’s me by saying look under your bed
There’s a Skoal can and a Playboy no one else would know you hid
And then I’d say I know its tough
When you break up after seven months
And yeah I know you really liked her and it just don’t seem fair
All I can say is pain like that is fast and it’s rare
1st Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
She wasn’t right for you
And still you feel like there’s a knife sticking out of your back
And you’re wondering if you’ll survive
You’ll make it through this and you’ll see
You’re still around to write this letter to me
At the stop sign at Tomlinson and Eighth
Always stop completely don’t just tap your brakes
And when you get a date with Bridgett make sure the tank is full
On second thought forget it that one turns out kinda cool
Each and every time you have a fight
Just assume you’re wrong and dad is right
And you should really thank Mrs. Brinkman
She spent so much extra time
It’s like she sees the diamond underneath
And she’s polishing you ‘til you shine
2nd Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
Tonight’s the bonfire rally
But you’re staying home instead because if you fail Algebra
Mom and dad will kill you dead
Trust me you’ll squeak by and get a C
And you’re still around to write this letter to me
You’ve got so much up ahead
You’ll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I’d end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life
I guess I’ll see you in the mirror
When you’re a grown man
P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can
3rd Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
I wish you’d study Spanish
I wish you’d take a typing class
I wish you wouldn’t worry, let it be
I’d say have a little faith and you’ll see
If I could write a letter to me
To me

Review about Letter to Me
Exactly whats going on with me.... | Reviewer: Victor | 5/20/2008Let me begin with that i had no respect for country music until i heard this song. I had just broken up with my g/f of 7 months and we're both 17. I nearly jumped off the boat when i heard this song on the lake. I felt like it was written exactly for me. Speaks volumes to someone in my position.
It true | Reviewer: Colleen | 3/3/2008
This some is more true then I could have ever thought possible. It heard it for the first time the same day me and my boy friend broke up, and you guessed it, it was after 7 months. This sound hit square on with what I was feeling. I know he is not the guy for me, but that doesn't make the pain any less. And this song really helped me move on. And I just love it, I wish that eveyone could look at there life like how Letter to Me is saying. Because there is so much more to life to come. And Brad is right in saying "These are no where near the best years of your life"
You SHOULD Write a Letter to You... | Reviewer: RYE in Houston | 2/6/2008
I plan to write a letter to me as a young girl, mass copy it, and give it to some young girls who are 17 and going through the same types of things right now. My high school years were horrible at the time...oh, but how GLAD I AM they were horrible now that I am twice that age (+ 2). So many things that COULD HAVE happened if things had been different...some of the things that happened to people who lived the life I thought would be so cool to live at the time...I didn't have to suffer. There was so much more up ahead of me and now I wish I could go back and tell the younger me that there's no need (1 to lose sleep over anything, (2 to be sad, (3 to feel left out or looked over, (4 to cry all night, (5 to feel unattractive, or (6 worry about what you'll become...because it all works out for you somewhere around 25...and you're still making strides.
I love this song...and salute it with tears every time I hear it.
It changed my views | Reviewer: Caitlin | 2/8/2008
I have never been a big fan of country music until just recently. Some of the post i read are from kids a little younger then me (im a college student) but looking back this song is completely true. I thought my high school experience was kinda bad but this song makes me look at it in a different light, and i dont hate it so much.
Fantastic!!!!! | Reviewer: matt myers | 2/3/2008
How true this is! I have three sons of varing ages and they can all relate to this as well I can. I remember high school and afterward being so hard and I was lost but I did find my way and life is better. I learned of faith and trust and it has made a world of difference.Don't ever give up because just around the corner are better things coming!! Thanks Brad for putting all our feelings into words!!

i love this song. i attend the same school where the video to this song was filmed. (: it's very strange to turn on your television and see your school on CMT.
Brad at his best | Reviewer: Jen | 1/22/2008
Obviously, I love this song...who couldn't?? I was so impacted the first time I heard it, so inspired.. I just graduated high school and it feels like a huge part of my life is over, but this song is great at getting the point across that better things will come. You'll learn and you'll grow and someday I want to write my own letter to myself, just to see how far I've come.
Its insparational | Reviewer: Luna | 1/14/2008

Country Love | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/14/2008
Well Brad, you just earned yourself a new fan.
I randomly turned on the radio and listened to "letter to me" and I loved it. I had such a steriotype about country, but this song proved me wrong. After this song I listened to different songs of yours, such as "mud on the tires" and I loved that too. Now I can't get enough of country, and I'm a sophmore girl in high school and I related to this song.
Brad your awesome. Keep doing what your doing.
Much love.
