It's Only A Paper Moon Lyrics
Artist(Band):Harold Arlen
music by Harold Arlen.
lyrics by E.Y. (Yip) Harburg
Say, its only a paper moon
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
Yes, it's only a canvas sky
Hanging over a muslin tree
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
Without your love
It's a honky-tonk parade
Without your love
It's a melody played in a penny arcade
It's a Barnum and Bailey world
Just as phony as it can be
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me
(Instrumental break)
(Sing the whole song again)

Review about It's Only A Paper Moon
Wonderful to be reminded | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/8/2008
Thanks, you kind people, for helping me remember not only the lyric but the fact that this great little jazz standard was a creation by the wonderful pen of Harold Arlen and the genius of the late Kip Yarburg!
I needed an attitude adjustment today, and this put me in a better frame of mind.
