If We Never Meet Again Lyrics - Elvis Presley

Review The Song (3)

(Words & music by Albert E. Brumley)
Soon we'll come to the end of life's journey
And perhaps never meet anymore
Till we gather in heaven's bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore

If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the side of the river of life

Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separations come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore

I had this song played at my husband's funeral last week.... as all the guests entered the chapel. It was very fitting and very peaceful without being sombre. I have made sure that everyone knows I want the same thing for my own funeral.

A Beautiful Song of Remembrance | Reviewer: Maureen | 7/30/07

I grew up in a family of major Elvis fans - as a child I saw him 4 times in concert with my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I have never celebrated a holiday season without Elvis Christmas music playing from Thanksgiving thru Christmas Day. When my grandfather passed away just 6 days before Christmas in 1980 when I was 15, I first heard this song and listened to the lyrics (I'm sure I'd heard it before - probably when the King himself passed away 3 years prior), when my dad and uncles requested it be played at the funeral, I couldn't bear it. Then Christmas came, and I missed my grandpa so much that all I could listen to was "It won't seem like Christmas without you" and "If we never meet again." As my other grandparents passed away over the years, my father would always play these songs (most all of my relatives have died right around the Christmas holiday) and I would find comfort in the songs. When my favorite uncle passed away last year, my father again had this song played at his funeral. I asked him to make me a copy on CD, and so when I go to the cemetary, I pull my car right up to my grandfather's and uncle's gravesite and blast the song in dedication to them. The song has come to give me tears of comfort and remind me of the wonderful times we all had together, and I feel they are listening and telling me it's okay to cry and to still miss them terribly.
