IRON MAN Lyrics - Black Sabbath
Review The Song (17)
I AM IRON MAN
Has he lost his mind
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall
Is he live or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
Why should we even care?
He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
When he traveled time
For the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold
Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge
Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

One of the greatest | Reviewer: Iyer | 2/1/14
This song is definitely one of the ultimate rock songs which I have ever heard. And if you have been with a group of friends who have been listening to rock music for some years during your college days, you will know what I mean. It still gets me. Fabulous. Simply mind blowing.
NO DOUB ABOUT IT... | Reviewer: ANGEL ENRIQUE | 9/22/13
I'M 40 Y/O. FOR SOME MEXICANS, GROWING UP IN THIS COUNTRY AND LOVE ROCK IN ALL IT'S FORMS (EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO THING THAT JUSTIN BIEVER, AMY WHYNEHOUSE, ADELLE, BLACK EYE PEAS, COLDPLAY ET ALL PLAY AND SING ROCK, THEY DON'T!) IT ALMOST SUCKED. MUSIC WAS CONTROLED BY GOVERMENT, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO YOUNGSTERS WERE INFLUENCED BY THIS MUSIC, THTA'S WITH JUST SOME VANILLA MUSICA WAS GOING ON, TELEVISA ALSO CONTROLED THE ARTISTS AND WHAT YOU YOU WATCH AND LISTEN (NOW THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK AND PROMOTE SHIT MUSIC FORM SHITY ARTRISTS, EVEN PRODUCE THEM}. BANDS LIKE THE BEATLES, ROLLONG STONES, THE DOORS, ETC. WERE ONLY LISTENED BY TEENAGERS WHO BOUGHT THE RECORD AND SMUGGLED INTO THE COUNTRY. ROCK WAS RELEGATED UNTILL AFTER 12:00 AM PROGRAMING IN RADIO. JUST A FEW KNEW ZEPELLIN, SABBATH, PURPLE, AND SOME JUST HEAR ROXY MUSIC, BOWIE, GENESIS OR PINK FLOYD. I GUES KISS WAS THE FIRST BAND AIRED DURING THE DAY, BUT IT WAS THE DISCO ERA, SO YOU ONLY HEAR "I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU". THEN THE 80'S HAPPEND AND HEAVY METAL BECAME MORE AND MORE ACCESIBLE, BUT NOT AS WE WISHED. WE HEARD AND WATCHED LTTLE VIDEO PROGRAMS AT LOCAL TV STATIONS. DEF LEPPARD, MOTLEY CRÜE, IRON MAIDE, JUDAS PRIEST, KROKUS, AC/DC, OZZY, THE BANDS QUOTED ABOVE, QUEEN, RAINBOW, DIO, VAN HALEN, SCORPIONS, WASP, ACCEPT, METAL WAS A PHENOMENOM. THEN HAIR METAL HAPPENED (WARRANT, WHITESNAKE, CINDRELLA, L.A. GUNS, SKID ROW, TESLA, POISON!, AND IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR; UNLESS IT WAS UNDEGROWND FLY MARKET STUF; METALLICA, SLAYER, VENOM, SODOM, KING DIAMOND, MEGADETH, SEPULTURA. THE MOVEMENT FADED HERE ALSO, LIKE IN THE U.S. IN THE 90'S, WITH UST A FEW BANDS STANDING IN FRONT OF POP: NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM, STONE TEMPLE PILTOS, ALICE IN CHAINS, METALLICA, GUNS'N ROSES, PANTERA. AFTER THE YEAR 2K, HELL RISES AGAIN AND NOW EVRYBODY LIKES SABBATH, AC/DC, MAIDEN, PRIEST. NEW GENERATIONS (THE 12 Y/O) HAD DISCOVERED THIS SONGS THANKS TO THE MOVIES, BUT IT HAPPENED TATT THEY ARE USED FOR COMERCIAL POURPOSES, BECAUSE THIS GREAT SONGS HAD LITTLE OR NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. THE COMIC CHARACTER EXISTED FIRST THAN THE SONG. ANOTHR EXAMPLE IT'S JUDAS PRIEST'S "FREE WHEEL BURNING",IT WASN'T USED IN THE MOVIE "THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS", BUT THEY TAKE THE FIRST PART OF THE SONG TO GIVE IT A NAME, I DON'T KNOW IF SOME PEOPLE HAD REALIZED IT. THE POINT IS THAT ROCK, THE TRUELLY MUSIC CALLED ROCK, CAN'T BE BEATED, ONE OF THE GREATES METAL SONGS OF ALL TIME, IRON MAN IS A PREMONITION OF WHAT WILL OCCUR TO MUSIC. IRON MAN IT'S ROCK, ON THE BEGUININIG IT WAS REJECTED:Is he live or dead? Has he thoughts within his head? We'll just pass him there Why should we even care?
THEN WAS BLAMED FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO SOME TRUBLESD KIDS: Nobody wants him He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance That he will soon unfold
THEN THE MUSIC WAS SAVED BY ROCK IN THE EARLY 90'S, ASK MILLY VANILLY AND VANILA ICE:"Now the time is here For Iron Man to spread fear Vengeance from the grave Kills the people he once saved
NOW EVRYBODY LIKES ROCK, NOBODY CAN RESIST: Heavy boots of lead Fills his victims full of dread Running as fast as they can Iron Man lives again!
Yes!! | Reviewer: shane013a | 1/11/12
Having lived through the 60s and so on, I can only say that most of the above is true...this song was an anthem. Not only for returning vets but for those of us who were tired of turning the other cheek and wanted to plant a boot on some cheeks of authority as well!!! It was along with Deep Purple a necessary alternative to the placid folk style which had come to represent a movement which was fast becoming much more of a heavy metal audience in need. This was our POWER!!!!!
Classic | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/15/11
Classic song from a classic band, that has influenced an entire genre of music, thank you black sabbath for making metal music happen,to those of you who have bad comments, you obviously havent a clue
you have to admit... | Reviewer: mwa hahaha | 10/15/09
Black Sabbath lyrics, taken entirely at face value, without any knowledge of the time, the sound, or the people, suck. Completely. Most of the time, anyway. (this would be an exception, as would Heaven & Hell and some others) Look at the lyrics to Paranoid. Seriously. However, when you combine these lyrics and that Ozzy-wail and the sound and the aesthetic of the band itself, Black Sabbath is f*cking incredible. Metal itself is just one of those things that you either love or hate totally and have no respect for. I love it. Some people...do not. (Also: I am not a 12 year old. Thank you.)
Just as a Song ... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/5/09
Ignoring what the song is about, Iron Man is amazing simply as a song. I have loved it from the first time I heard it ... and I have to admit that it now makes me geek out a little ... you know, after they used it in Iron Man. Yay Stan Lee!
awesome song... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/12/09
This is the first Black Sabbath song I've ever heard and I loved it. That dwaiaboutit person probably never even heard this song before. So his opinion doesn't even count. Black Sabbath is one of the greatest bands I've ever heard.
Awesome song | Reviewer: MacLeod | 10/11/08
i loved this song, i remember first hearing it from my brothers stereo when i was young. and of course, they use this song at teh end of the Movie Iron Man. such an awesome combination. i do wonder the original intention behind the song though.
Agreed... excellent song | Reviewer: LoneWolf | 9/11/08
It's a classic from the time I was a teenager but I have to wonder about some of the other reviewers. They sound like they are about 12 years old NOW. I mean really people, do you realize what you've written makes you sound like?
You have to know the time... | Reviewer: NobleHead | 8/2/08
In 1970 the Viet Nam war that had raged on for decades was about to be ended, many soldiers had been coming home, they were rejected, spat upon and called baby killers by people who failed to recognize that there is a difference between the war / battle and the warrior.
Something that should never happen to men and women who endure great hardship in the service of their country and even if they had turned on their home land most folks who grew up in the 1960s would have understood.
Like it or not the song became one of the anthems for the lost souls of that war.
I have relatives who came home after the Viet Nam war but their minds are still living in that war, think about it then learn a new appreciation for the words.
AMAZING | Reviewer: Jeremy | 12/24/07
This song is amazing. Don't listen to the obviously deaf dwaiaboutit person down there, this is one of the best songs ever. There would be no such thing as heavy metal if it wasn't for Black Sabbath, and this is some of their best work! I'll say it again, THIS SONG IS AMAZING!
