I Will Be Here Lyrics - Steven Curtis Chapman

Review The Song (9)

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the sun does not appear,
I will be here.

If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
‘Cause I will be here.

I will be here when you feel like being quiet;
When you need to speak your mind, I will listen.
And I will be here when the laughter turns to crying;
Through the winning, losing, and trying, we’ll be together,
‘Cause I will be here.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the future is unclear,
I will be here.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
sponsored links
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I will be here.

I will be here, so you can cry on my shoulder;
When the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you.
And I will be here to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me;
I will be here.

I will be true to the promise I have made,
To you and to the One who gave you to me.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I, I will be here.
We'll be together and i will be here.

This song describes my husband. | Reviewer: Fanny | 8/19/11

I have known this beautiful song for a very long time. My husband once sang it (beautifully)in one of our friends' wedding day.
Yesterday, another friend who's preparing his own wedding asked me for a list of wedding songs. Among some, I highly recommended this song. He listened to it in his office and texted me that he cried while listening to this song. He said that the song really describe the couple's responsibility in a marriage...
So, this morning I read the lyric one more time and realised how accurate it describes my husband.
So I think that's why he sang it beautifully at that wedding, because he has been living the words all these times =)
Thanks for the beautiful song, Steven.

This song was a prophetic statement | Reviewer: Ron | 12/21/09

My story begins in Sydney Australia. Halfway through 2000 I realised that retirement was looming, and I really did not want to spend another 20 plus years on my own. I subscribed to the online dating Christian Connection website, looking for a possible spouse and began corresponding with a flight attendant living in New York state.

After lots of emails, phone calls and a couple of visits we realised that the Lord had brought us together, we loved each other, and on her visit just before Christmas 2000 decided that we would marry.  The romance of the century had begun. Quite a surprise for the family who non-the-less were all very delighted and affirming. We prepared ourselves spiritually, having both been married before.
So on 21st March 2001 in Sydney, Australia, among all my family, friends and work colleagues gathered from far and near, we married. It was a very warm, happy and romantic occasion. At our wedding a friend sang “I will be there.” Little did we know that 6 months later the lyrics would prove to be a prophetic statement of what was about to happen.

Six months after we were married, in September 2001, after two massive seizures, Janelle was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour (glioblastoma multiforme). We were now living in Virginia USA. A prognosis of 6-8 months to live. By the grace of God and the best medical care we could find Janelle lived another 18 months. She died on 29th May 2003. She had just turned 57.

We had just over two years together, but we knew God was with us the whole time. Our journey together was a blessing to many many people. The words of the song helped sustain us through her surgery, radiation, and chemo therapy. We never doubted the love of God or questioned his wisdom and plan, even though it was a heartache. It was a marriage made in heaven to express and fulfil God's special care for two people dear to him.
Thanks Steven for your song.

heart break | Reviewer: seeking Him | 10/28/09

This song was sung on our wedding day 15 years ago. I sit here today on the brink of a divorce re reading these lyrics and wishing I had ALWAYS been there for her. Now she wants to leave and I leave it in the hands of God. Than You Stven for these beautiful words.

"Heartbroken and desperately praying"

This song is perfect. The lyrics, the melody, the production, the vocals...everything! Steven Curtis Chapman has to be one of my very favorite artists of all time, but this is truly his magnum opus. My dad's favorite song of all time and probably mine as well. Just a beautiful picture of a man's love for his wife, painted far more gracefully than I could ever hope to paint it.

I find it hard not to well up at the line "And I will be here/so you can cry on my shoulder..." thinking of everything Steven and his wife have been through since last May. He was here for her then...and he's still here for her now.

Thanks Steven, for writing this song...and living it.

This song is very blessing me, tells about the person who always beside her in everything happen, like Jesus who always be there when we need him. I hope I will get the person who to be always in my side.

My future and I have always cherished not only this song, or the all about love cd but all of stevens music. Our wedding day I am going to sing this song for my future husband. I cry everytime I sing it! Not often you find a song as a couple that fits so perfectly. This song and I will take care of you are just that song. Thanks steven!

What a blessing | Reviewer: Kay Mathias | 1/9/08

We renewed our vows for our 30th anniversary. My husband surprised me with it and our minister of music sang this song. What a true blessing this song is!!! I will forever remember this and the beautiful message it holds for us as a couple. Thanks Steven.

My husband and I had a friend sing "I Will Be Here" at our wedding seven years ago and today it is still one of our favorite songs. It's a reminder that we are never alone.
