Elvis Presley Help Me Lyrics

Last updated: 04/17/2012 11:00:00 AM

(Words & music by Larry Gatlin)
Lord, Help me walk
another mile, just one more mile;
I'm tired of walkin' all alone.

Lord, Help me smile
another smile, just one more smile;
You know I just can't make it on my own.

I never thought I needed help before;
I thought that I could get by - by myself.
Now I know I just can't take it any more.
With a humble heart, on bended knee,
I'm beggin' You, please, Help Me.

Come down from Your golden
throne to me, to lowly me;
I need to feel the touch of Your tender hand.

Remove the chains of darkness
let me see, Lord let me see;
Just where I fit into your master plan.

I never thought I needed help before;
I thought that I could get by - by myself.
Now I know I just can't take it any more.
With a humble heart, on bended knee,
I'm beggin' You, please, Help Me.

Elvis has always had a place in my heart. But this song just really touched me. When going through trials and tribulations of life and there is no where to go, we can get solace from this song. No matter where we are "He" is always there to help us if we allow it.

This is the first time I've heard this song, and it touches home very much. Its is the life I lived. With the pain of abuse growing up I didn't trust people, so trying to live life under my own power, but the pain of abuse and not trusting anybody was leading to do destroy myself, and close to killing myself, but through the power of God I became a different person. I learned of a peace that can only come from the God of love.

i heard this song long time ago. but when i heard it again recently it's still has a deep meaning and powerfull message that we are nothing without God. to me this song was also a testimonial of elvis, how he had almost everything that this world could give him. but as everybody knows, on the top of the world elvis lost his natural fullfilment and joy. he felt so lonely and sank in the crowd. he always went to his private room to play hymns on his piano. not only elvis, but also us need help and mercy from The Lord (especially myself). aren't we?
