Head Over Heels Lyrics
Performed by Tears For FearsReview The Song (11)
I wanted to be with you alone and talk about the weather
But traditions I can trace against the child in your face
Won't escape my attention
You keep your distance with a system of touch and gentle persuasion
I'm lost in admiration, could I need you this much
Oh, you're wasting my time, you're just, just, just wasting time
Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out till I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away (Throw it away...Throw it away...)
I made a fire and watching it burn (yeah) Thought of your future
With one foot in the past now just how long will it last
No, no, no, have you no ambitions, oh (What's the matter with...)
My mother and my brothers used to breathing clean air
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age)
And dreaming I'm a doctor
(Nothing gets done when you feel like a baby)
It's hard to be man when there's a gun in your hand.
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age) Oh, I feel so…
Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out till I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away
And this is my four leaf clover
I'm on the line, one open mind, this is my four leaf clover
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la) In my mind's eye (la la la la la la)
One little boy, one little man (La la la la la, la la la la la)
Funny how...TIME FLIES!!!

One of the Best of the 80's | Reviewer: Smitty | 1/28/12
Someone said it sucked they came out in the 80's? But they ARE a New Wave band!! This is New Wave! And its one of the best genre's ever created during modern times! I absolutely ADORE THIS BAND! I love everything they do! This song being one my favorites. This is like pure bliss. I was a kid too when the 80's was in full swing and am in my early 30's as well. I am eternally grateful for being around during those times to fully appreciate it. And like another reviewer I too grew up in "the hood" but it didn't stop me nor the rest of my family from appreciating all forms of music! I spent a lot of time listening to New Wave. This band is seriously underrated. They are legendary in every way with some of the best New Wave to ever grace this Earth. I can't stop hitting the replay button. The song is so beautiful its like an orgasm to the eardrum!
A great tune, great production | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/4/10
Inasmuch as the 80s were the decade that was defined by synth music, these guys definitely made a very creative use of them, and the production is as fresh as it was back then... Also, his voice has a great sound to it, it just works as great pop music...
Genious song | Reviewer: jonahwalker | 7/4/10
I think that Tears for Fears had the bad luck of coming out at a certain time in music and they have been lumped in as "80's music" or "80's New Wave" when they were a great band. I also feel like the guy ealier who said it made him feel old bc I was a kid when this came out(when I actually hated them-I had to grow up to appreciate what a great band they are-and I hate that 80's stuff) and now I am in my early-thirties. I also can now appreciate the meaning of this song-obsession and murder. Great great song.

One of the best 80s tracks | Reviewer: Fan | 10/25/08
Love the song - can listen to it over and over again.
Not rock and roll, but damn it is fine music. The boys made some great music, harmonies, lyrics, and they are timeless...
Sign of a true hit is one that you will never forget. Here's one of them!
emo...maybe | Reviewer: cheatsdeath? | 6/20/08
I like this song, but for some reason it always makes me long for the past...think I was about 10 when this song came out. Now close to my thirties I know what they meant when they sang this, and it makes me overwhelmingly remorseful that my younger life is over and Im stuck with this yucky boring blandness. oh well, time flies.
always been my favorite | Reviewer: starr | 12/3/07
i heard this song 4 the first time when i was 8 years old and fell in love with the band. my sister was into michael jackson and i was into tears for fears. every time i hear head over heels, it's like i'm hearing it for the first time. i am constantly playing the song on demand on the internet. was crazy about them in the past, still crazy about them, and always will be.
Donnie Darko - Tears for Fears - head over heels | Reviewer: Elsie | 10/17/07
I like this song when I was very small already. But in that time, my english is not good. And I don't know their names. Luckily, I heard
this song in the radio and makes me very happy. So I can hear over and
over again. I will copy the lyrics and sing along with them. thats make
me very relex/
Love it! | Reviewer: Steph | 6/10/07
I absolutely love this song. Recently I've heard a lot more Tears for Fears, and i'm really loving it. Donnie Darko really put them to good use, even though Mad World is sung by Gary Jules. It's just so beautiful. Great, great band.
Great band, very under rated | Reviewer: Erilio | 6/2/07
These guys are sooo talented, their music is just so grand and meaningful. i even like the new songs and got to see them live in concert. on a scale of one through ten, they are at least a 8. I love these guys.
