Follow Me Lyrics - Uncle Kracker

Review The Song (46)

You don't know how you met me
You don't know why, you can't turn around and say good-bye
all you know is when i'm with you I make you free
And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea
I'm singing....

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

I'm not worried 'bout the ring you wear
Cause as long as no one knows
Then nobody can care
You're feelin' guilty
And I'm well aware
sponsored links
But you don't look ashamed
And baby I'm not scared
I'm singing...

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

Won't give you money
I can't give you the sky
You're better off if you don't ask why
I'm not the reason that you go astray and
We'll be alright if you don't ask me to stay

I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

You don't know how you met me
You don't know why, you can't turn around and say good-bye
all you know is when I'm with you I make you free
And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea
I'm singing....

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me
I'm singing

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me
I'm singing

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

Man, when i first heard this song, i thought that it was from way back in the day, i mean WAY back. But i'll tell ya, when i found out it was Uncle Kracker, i just loved this song even more.

Hmm... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/27/11

I love this song so much, that I dont want to believe that its about drugs. I want to look into it, I can see it being about being in love with a married woman OR an addiction to drugs, I'll go see if I can find out and I'll let you know what I find l8er

Want the truth? | Reviewer: Dotti | 3/12/11

He told one of his favorite cousins "One day, I'm going to write a song just for you."

It's about his cousin's relationship with someone outside of her marriage. She was talking to him about it one day and said "Matty, he's like an addiction."

There's your "drug" reference.

Depends on the angle | Reviewer: Peter | 11/10/10

If you view this as being a man singing the song to an illegitimate lover, then you probably won't get the references to drugs because you interpret some of the lyrics to fit rational sane relationships, ie, not addictions. In either case, if it is about a illegitimate relationship, the man is clearly delusional re the repeatedline "you won't find nobody else like me".

If you view this song as being the drug speaking to the addict, then the references are unavoidable. The drug may be heroin, given the "ring", "veins" and "nothing better than me" references. But you probably didn't want to know that from reading peoples reactions to the idea here.

After reading the reviews I now agree that maybe you could see that the song could be referring to drugs, but that just ruins the entire song for me!!! and I love the song so I am not going to believe it!!

This song is little intriguing huh^_^...
Anyways.. its true that its not bout drugs nor about cheating.
This song tells about what a man can do. I mean A man for a woman even its already a married one. Well as a matter of fact, its a human nature not just a behavior.

Ok so all you people out there you think this song is about drugs.... Is probly taking drugs because if you listen ACTUALY listen to the song you can clearly hear that the song is about a guy who is very much in love with married women!!!! I love this song and I think its awsome and I understand why people these days think every song is about drugs but come on.... Dealt people follow me is not about drugs !! I'm samantha and i love this song(:

Heroin | Reviewer: Naynay | 3/1/10

Althought not all songs are aboput drugs today this one most likely is. It is actually a very clever play on words. The words are very specific. I'm and Literature teacher who has spent most of my adult life interpreting various writings. If this song is about a man and a woman that would surprise me and the only person who could answer that is writer really.

It's definitely about drugs. He himself said during an interview with MTV:

MTV: "To listen to your second single, "Follow Me," you wouldn't think it's an Uncle Kracker tune."

Kracker: "It's definitely different from the whole record. But when we first started recording that song, with us being from Detroit, that song was supposed to be this doo-wop/Motown song — something different, because every song's got its own little twist. And this song was supposed to have that, but after we recorded it, I was like, 'Man, that could be something for radio,' so we switched it back.

It takes on a couple of different meanings. I've heard some people think that I'm talking about drugs, or some people think I'm talking about cheating. I guess it's kinda both. I would never want to say anything that would get myself in trouble, being married with a couple of kids. That song is like a dirty picture painted with a pretty brush."

wow people. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/9/09

This song is very obviously not about drugs. I kind of feel sad that if this is the kind of society we live in today. I believe that this song is about a guy who is very much in love with a married woman, but he doesn't trust himself enough to stay with her.

Not about drugs | Reviewer: Dangeriam | 11/4/09

aight, seriously, this song is definately NOT about drugs. Its about a guy who is seeing this girl who is married. He tells her everything he would do for her, and knows he's the best for her. He tells her everything straight up, he's not going to give her money, and he's not going to give her everything under the sky. When he says "it will be alrigh if you don't ask me to stay" it could mean one of two things: A) once a cheater always a cheater...so in that sense if they did have a relationship, what's to keep her from cheating on him, especially if she did it for him. and the other is that things are better this way. they are fuck buddies for the most part. he's down for everything but a relationship.

Drugs to this? | Reviewer: Alice :D | 9/23/09

Christopher-
I agree with George. This song is totally amazing and its only about drugs if you think about it that way. I've listened to this song since i was little. I sang it as a lullaby for babies a put asleep. In no way is this related to drugs unless you put it in that context. Well i guess ill go join the other naive people.

Drugs? | Reviewer: George | 6/29/09

Christopher,
Call us what you want, but I personally think it would be naive to claim that songs about drugs aren't listened to by the masses. White Lines is a song by Grand Master Flash back in the 70's about cocaine, I still hear it today.
A decent portion of mainstream rap is about Drugs and listened to by a wide variety of people, so to claim that Uncle Kracker is disguising his song about drugs in the form of love with a woman is a little ridiculous.
I personally have to idea what Uncle Kracker was trying to say so I do not plan on making an assumption, but I just thought I would put my opinion forth so as to try to join the rest of the "stupid fucken naive Americans".

Uncle Addict | Reviewer: Christopher | 6/16/09

Drugs!!!
Dont know how you met me (addicts never really remember the first step they take toward being an addict)
Dont know why, you cant turn around and say goodbye (Addicts all know what they doing is stupid/bad/wrong but they cant leave it)
All you know is that when Im with you I make you free (they just know they like the feeling of drugs and that they think of nothing else when high)
Swim through your veins like a fish in the sea (obvious symbolism)

Everything is alright (Addicts favourite thoughts)
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night (pass out or die)
And if you want to leave I can guarantee you wont find nobody else like me. (nothing/nobody can make you feel like drugs do)
I dont care bout the ring you wear (2 meanings - 1. The ring to pump your veins. 2. Ring symbolic of marriage which in many married peoples lives is the most important thing/relationship to them... drugs dont care about that and will eventually become the most important thing/relationship.)
Cause as long as no one knows Then nobody can care (Emphasis on the CAN... Drug addicts dont want people to find out because then people show that they care by means of Rehab which ends the relationship with drugs)

It is obviously disguised as a relationship with a married woman because singing about drugs is taboo and isnt listened to by the masses!

Now go shoot up all you stupid fucken naive Americans!!!
