Entertaining Angels Lyrics - Newsboys
Review The Song (12)
One to another
Do you remember me
I feel so small
Are you listening tonight
So temporary
Things that I have seen
I ran so far
Will you take me back again
Entertaining angels
By the light of my t.v. screen
24-7 you wait for me
Entertaining angels
By the time I fall to my knees
Host of heaven, sing over me
One to another
The feelings in between
I won't let go
Of all you taught me - alright
Close as a brother
The way we used to be
I'll hold my breath
And wait for you to breathe
Entertaining angels
By the light of my t.v. screen
24-7 you wait for me
Entertaining angels
While the night becomes history
Host of heaven, sing over me
Do you remember me
I feel so small
Are you listening tonight
So temporary
Things that I have seen
I ran so far
Will you take me back again
Entertaining angels
By the light of my t.v. screen
24-7 you wait for me
Entertaining angels
By the time I fall to my knees
Host of heaven, sing over me
One to another
The feelings in between
I won't let go
Of all you taught me - alright
Close as a brother
The way we used to be
I'll hold my breath
And wait for you to breathe
Entertaining angels
By the light of my t.v. screen
24-7 you wait for me
Entertaining angels
While the night becomes history
Host of heaven, sing over me

Meanings... | Reviewer: Thomas Rose | 7/8/11
"One to another, do you remember me"
This is a former Godly person, taking those first steps back towards God, asking as a child would: "Do you remember me?"
"I feel so small, are you listening tonight"
Here, you feel the writer's pain and angst in his search for a God he once knew, and wondering if God still hears him after all he's done.
"So temporary, things that I have seen. I ran so far, will you take me back again"
This individual has been to the bottom of what the world has to offer, and wonders sincerely if such a righteous God can forgive him of all the wrong he's done, and welcome him back into His kingdom. Sadly, most people outside of Christianity feel this way; that they have done too much wrong to ever be able to go to Heaven. This is not what Christianity is about; being "perfect". It is about being submissive to God, and loving Him more than yourself. And allowing God to forgive you, and love you, even when you think you don't deserve it. It is the reason He gave his Son to us, and let Him die on the cross; so that we wouldn't have to be perfect... just forgiven. The most valuable lesson any person can learn, Christian or otherwise, is that God isn't keeping score of your sins, or wanting you to hurt; quite the opposite. He's waiting for you to repent, and accept Him as your God, and live with Him, in perfect love!
"Entertaining angels by the light of my t.v. screen; 24-7 you wait for me. Entertaining angels by the time I fall to my knees, Host of heaven sing over me"
This is basically reminding us that no matter where we go, or what we do, we are always in God's presence, and we should remember that how we live and interact with others should be done carefully, and righteously, as we could be "entertaining angels" at any time!
"One to another, the feelings in between. I won't let go of all you taught me - alright"
He's saying that while he was straying from God, he always knew that he was wrong, and even though his life was in turmoil, he never forgot the way he once lived, and the teachings of Christianity that were imbued in him.
"Close as a brother, the way we used to be. I'll hold my breath, and wait for you to breathe"
He's simply saying that he desires to be close with God once more, as they used to be; and have the Spirit living in him again. This is the kind of life and love all Christians should feel daily, when we live and act as we should. A closeness that exists when Christ lives in you, and you are as one. "I'll hold my breath, and wait for you to breathe" - this is beautiful in its simplicity; if we truly trust God, and allow Him to take over our hearts and minds, then we can do just that; hold our breath, and let Him breathe for us; with us. This is hard for the average person to accept this kind of faith; but when it is experienced, it will change you forever. You CAN find that peace you've always desired, but you have to let go of the world, let God erase your past, and start over with Him. It is saddening how many people could experience this, but never do, either for fear that the Church won't accept them, or that they're "too bad" for God to love. How can this be?
Romans 8:35-39 says:"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: 'For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities (demons), nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor ANY other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
You can NEVER run too far from God. He will always love you, no matter what you do, or what you've done; and He will be ready with open arms, to welcome you home! He's just waiting on you!
Amazing lyrics | Reviewer: Ben | 4/10/11
I love the lyrics in this song. They are truly amazing and speak of the grace of God. The thought that God still accepts us and forgives us for the things we do is truly amazing. I feel so blessed to have received Christ into my life as my savior and I believe this song truthfully represents how I felt when I admitted to my sins and was spiritually reborn. God bless the Newsboys and all who may listen to them.

Quite a meaningful song if you really look at it.
I have always liked listening to it,even when I didn't know the lyrics. Some parts of the song I can really relate to,maybe that's why I like it so much.

I think this is another great song by the newsboys. Their songs always give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside, and if that's to cheezy for you, TOO BAD! That's how it is! I think that the newsboys really give teens some good christian music that they like and their parents can listen too as well. (This coming from a teen.)
ENTERTAINING ANGLES ROCKS!

The meaning of this song has always confused me. I think it might be about how we can run from God so many times and do so much wrong we feel it is impossible for him to forgive us because we don't deserve it.But Jesus forgives us anyways, no matter how many times we run which is kinda like "entertaining angels" beacause the angels must think "how many times is God gonna take this sinner back again?" He is just entertaining angels by the amount of times he takes us back...

I love this song because the lyrics has got meaning in it beacause people always feel guilty when they do wrong but jesus is ready to listen to you it donot matter who you are what religion you belong to.
LOVE these boys | Reviewer: Qidron | 2/14/08
As referring to scripture, entertaining angels would have to do with receiving people into our lives...those who are strangers to us...and being open to that sharing "24/7" with them in a simple daily way: "by the light of my TV screen". But of course, as we are led by the Holy Spirit to do so.
Sometimes with good intentions we entertain what turn out to be more like fallen angels, but even that would be worth the blessing received from entertaining Godly messengers.
I figure "will you take me back again?" has to do with a repentance that is occuring. "sing over me" being rejuvinated and filled during prayer...which brings me to my favorite part of this beautiful song "I hold my breath and wait for You to breathe."
This "boy" band has been a tremendous blessing to me REPEATEDLY. I am very grateful for and to these my brethren in Christ.

I think the song is about the changes in the band, kinda a self-scrutiny. Self assessment of our walk as Christians should be constant. This song was not written with the help of Steve Taylor and was soon after John left the band. I recently saw Peter and the boys in concert at Go, needless to say...the self assessment has made the band better witnesses to lead people to Christ. Just my thoughts.
Amazing... | Reviewer: Yukona | 6/29/07
I love this song, spoke so much of how I felt when I first received Christ.
This song comes from the part when Jesus tells us all the angels in heaven rejoice when a sinner receives Christ.
And the song is just about someone turning back to Christ, after having backslided.
Amazing stuff, really.
Amazing Song! | Reviewer: hi | 6/8/07
Really great song, amazing chorus. Backup vocals are amazing, as usual. Duncan is a amazing drummer. Peter is a amazing and talented vocalist, as are all of the boys!
THANKS NEWSBOYS
