Drive Lyrics - The Cars
Review The Song (19)
Who's gonna tell you when, it's too late
Who's gonna tell you things, aren't so great
You can't go on, thinkin, nothin's wrong
Who's gonna drive you home tonight
Who's gonna pick you up, when you fall
Who's gonna hang it up, when you call
Who's gonna pay attention, to your dreams
Who's gonna plug their ears, when you scream
You can't go on, thinkin, nothin's wrong
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight
Bye baby... bye baby... bye baby... bye baby...
Who's gonna hold you down, when you shake
Who's gonna come around, when you break
You can't go on, thinkin nothin's wrong
Who's gonna drive you home, tonight
Ohh, you know you can't go on, thinkin, nothin's wrong

Now It's Personal | Reviewer: Wes | 2/7/14
I've heard this song most of my life. It's always been just a little sad song about a girl blithely carrying on - not even realizing she's on a dangerous path. What's worse, she's oblivious to the man who really cares for her who is watching her train wreck and wishing she would turn to him for his love. It's about his pain and frustration at knowing he could help her, but she's having too much fun to be interested in his love.
See now, I'm the guy in the story. And it is a very painful position to be in - loving somebody who is on a destructive path that she is seduced by. She breaks my heart over and over. So now this little song I've known all my life plays in my head every day. And it's comforting in a way to know that this happens to others and I don't feel so alone. That's good poetry. That's art. It's a much better song than I ever imagined.

This song is a sad reminder. I had a girl with which we started a relationship. She was the most intelligent female that I ever met as well as being remarkedly beautiful. She was an alcoholic, was arrested for DUI, lost her job. Drank at every opportunity. When I finally gave her the word, either me or the booze..........She said bye to me. This song says it all.
Interpreting songs | Reviewer: Anonymous woman | 11/7/13
I think this song is very romantic and it's my story: you are hanging around with the wrong men while there is one that is - still - waiting for you and you waste your time. I like to interpret songs on my own and this song always makes me cry, probably cause I know that I am wasting my time with wrong people that don't pick me up when I fall
Great song.... | Reviewer: Don | 9/8/13
Terry, 10/16/12, you hit it right on the head.
It's about a girl who doesn't realize she's fucking up her relationship. I've been listening to this song all day.
My girl is that girl. Spoiled, beautiful, sexy and clueless.
My Lady and I broke up.... she wants to marry but I've been her option rather than her priority. She now wants to get back together after realizing that I'm really gone if she doesn't change. She just texted me... just now. She wants to meet tomorrow. I have her stuff all boxed up... We'll see.

I think its about a girl who has a drug issue and she cant control it anymore and the guy is asking who's gonna do everything for you if he's not there. i'm nineteen and I love this song but I understand the lyrics. she cant go one thinking that nothing is wrong in her life cuz she dosent want to face it. its like telling a story that she uses the drugs to make her feel like nothing is wrong with her and to not the feel the emotions she feels cuz they terrible and they hurt her.

What are you people talking about? It is a song about a person male or female, we will assume about a female, since it is being sung by a male, but it could be either or, who is missing all the signs that the relationship is falling apart. So who is going to be there when I am gone , who is going to be there to pick you up? Who will answer the phone when you call me because I will be long gone because of your insensitivity. You can't go on thinking nothing is wrong. Who is going to drive you home tonight

wrong way? | Reviewer: anonymous | 3/7/12
It's a wonderful song, about someone that thinks he's on the wrong way but cant stop and cant change it, but it all might be perfectly right, you just have to see it the right way. RIP Benjamin Orr.
No words good enough | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/23/12
This song absolutely makes me feel indestructible, and really sad, too. It's kind of one of those songs that cut right into your heart and put you in this unexplainable mood that nothing else can (unless another great song). Love it. RIP Benjamin Orr, you talented, beautiful musician.

i wanted to come to your defense, because it's not like you were ratting out anyone in particular. then I started thinking about it... and if this is her favorite song, it means that she is passionate, probably genuine emotions, and probably knows she's fking up but cant do anything about it.
truth is, you're both users [users in the elastic sense]... hope that you learn to care about people. Hope people learn how to care about you.
with that said.. here is my favorite meth song: "Yo La Tengo: Tears are in Your Eyes" check it out.... j/k it's a song about self doubt. so it may be hard to relate. -peace.
Seriously? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/29/11
Can't we just enjoy a great tune? Why all the hatin? It's an awesome song. That's why you came to look up the lyrics. Right? Get over all the preachy stuff and just accept where you are RIGHT at this moment.
Like any of you are changing anything by dissing someone that put a lil anecdote up. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go spoon feed some endangered cliff dwelling birds of prey. You know? Like that badass from the Dos Equis beer commercial.

I still recall coming home when with the Army and seeing my pregnant wife crying on the couch from hearing the song and seeing the video of starving African children. I love the song but am sad about the little ones.

yes, people ... keep on talking about problems in internet. this is will help for sure. *irony*
you all have the solutions in your head, you know what to do. just do it.
but it's of course much more comfortable finding excuses why you better dont do anything at all. much easier to think about what could go wrong... *error!*
for sure noone will blame you for things that might go wrong if you try. and you might feel like a hero when you tell stories "how you would have done it right". yes, this is junkie style.
it´s your decision, if you want keeping on beeing the looser you are, or...
what do I care ... it´s just internet.

It's my song, every single word means to me and you "Loren". I know if you ready this you can tell who I am. And that's over 20 years ago.Love is stll there, it only grows up as much as the time passes by. My last breath would be only you.

Another slut to fuck? Really dude? Obviously it hurt that the two of you broke up, otherwise you wouldn't be on the internet telling everyone about it, am I right? You honestly sound like you're using drugs, just by the way you worded stuff. Go to therapy or something.
Btw, The Cars are amazing! I'm only 17, but I love 'em. xD
