Dreaming Lyrics - System of a Down

Review The Song (25)

Dreaming - System Of A Down

For today we will take the body parts and put them on the wall
For treated indigenously, digenously
Human right is private blue chip, pry
We're the prophetic generation of bottled water,
of bottled water
Causing poor populations to die!, to die!, to die!
(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You
You went beyond
And you lost it all
Why did you go there?
From beyond you saw it all
Why did you?

we lost consumer confidence in casual karma,
sponsored links
casual karma
confetti, camouflage, camouflage!
the flage!, the flage!

(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water,
of bottled water
Causing poor populations to die!, to die!, to die!

(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You
You went beyond
And you lost it all
Why did you go there?
From beyond you saw it all
Why did you go there?

She lost her mind
Someone kicked her into the back of the line
She lost her head
When they called and they said that they thought he
was dead

Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can’t deny
Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can’t de--

we lost consumer confidence in casual karma,
casual karma
confetti, camouflage, camouflage!
the flage!, the flage!

(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water,
of bottled water
Causing poor populations to die!, to die!, to die!

(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You
You went beyond
And you lost it all
Why did you go there?
From beyond you saw it all
Why did you?

Na na na naa na na na
Na na na na na na na
Ahhh ahh

Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can’t deny
Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can’t deny

You will take the body parts
and put them up on the wall
and bring the dark disaster

wonderful message in this song | Reviewer: Tobia | 9/1/13

This Song is very important for me, and even of I don't want to say that I've absolutely understood it, I think it's a responsibility to share my thoughts. It talks about a sort of mind destabilization that somebody walks through when starting realizing the deep difference between internal and external reality, which can become sort of madness if you let yourself get influenced by any time of complotism. But, anyway, open eyes for a different view, and nothing else matters.

It makes sense. | Reviewer: Matt | 10/16/12

I've been listening to SOAD for half my life now (that is, for 10 years) and I can say that, for a kid, the lyrics may make absolutely no sense, for the fact that, as a kid, you don't get to know much about the world, or about (let's call it) external reality. As a teenager, I began to understand what they were all about- except that I thought it was only against the gobernment and the war. Now, having a way better understanding of reality and life, and even people itself, I can asure you guys that these lyrics talk not only about government being a enslaver thing with its system, but even about the people who supports the system to keep it the way it is now.
React. Wake up. Act. Seek the truth, the justice, what it's fair and humanly right, for those who can't or are blind to see that everything is wrong with everything in the world. Fight for the other, and for yourself, don't just sit there to be controlled.
That is, what I understand, the message of SOAD for the thinking people.

huh | Reviewer: Rebecca | 3/22/10

isn`'t it strange how even if your just listening to any of their songs without paying much attention to what their saying...you still get this sort of creppy feeling? like the band understands something that even the most devoted fan could never understand, and that all their songs are about really really terrible things that we all may have seen at one point or anouther....but we just didn:t understand the signicance of what we had seen, but this band does? like i know that they are singing of true things, but even if u cant undersand the words u still get a kind of weird wake up call? i mean, i never felttruely awake untill i heard chop suey when i was younger... [i couldnt understand a word of it then] but i still felt something inside me awaken, and after much research about them, i just sort of woke up. isnt that weird? i started seeing the world diff. just because of one band! i love them, and if i could ever meet them id have to say thank you!

Thank You for waking me up, SOD!!!

very great song | Reviewer: Icthyosapien | 1/14/10

when i first heard the song i thought it said
"You, you flipped me off.
and you lost it all.
Why did you go there?"

i thought it made sense like someone flips a guy off. that victim kills the guy and talks to his dead body lol. but i love SOAD. their songs are just out of this world

This is a very meaningful song, of course! | Reviewer: Taylor | 12/8/09

Every lyric in this song incorporates into one meaning of course, I can't see how anyone could say Soad is talking jibberish here or in any of their songs.

Now I may be wrong here - but my interpretation is that this song is about The american dream, and how our society makes it near impossible to reach, especially for the poor masses.

There are very meaningful lyrics in this song, for example:

- "We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, of bottled water, Causing poor populations to die!, to die!, to die!" -

Since you pointed this out as jibberish, This lyric is pretty plain and simple (as far as Soad goes). it means that even the most necessary of things have become taken away, priced, and sold back to the poor who rightfully deserve it.

- "We lost consumer confidence in Casual karma, casual karma" -

This lyric is referring to the nation's disbelief in positive karma (Do good and good will come to you), and that the poor population has given up because of how hard it is to get anywhere. Basically it's saying that the people who spend their whole lives positively striving for their dreams are slowly starting to believe that they will never get there, because in our society it's all luck; you either get it or you don't.

The "Dreaming of screaming" chorus is just talking about internal mental dispute of the poor, and putting it into perspective of one woman who is torn between whether or not her life will ever get better than it is.

I have also heard that it is tied into having relatives in the wars and such, which i guess would make sense with the lyric, "She lost her head, When they called and they said that they thought he was dead".

Leaving off with that, very obviously every lyric of every song by System of a Down has more meaning in it than most songs today, they're just harder to interpret because, well, they're musical and lyrical geniuses!

lulwut? | Reviewer: SOADfan | 6/4/09

SOADs lyrics are all interpretive, they know exactly what they are talking about. They are very much against the government and war, that is what most of their songs are about. You actually need to THINK about the lyrics. "Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine." That is about wars in the middle east. "Fuck the system" system being government. Think about things before you say them.

Yeah short and simple | Reviewer: DarthSenorQueso | 12/5/08

System's songs are all about symbolism. If you listen to them litterally they won't make sense. So in a way thier lyrics are the best of any artist I have heard.

Brand new spaking deals in BYOB means the deals the Gov. makes in war

the bottle line means they see us as nothing.

u dumbasses but in a gd way | Reviewer: intelligence for gifts | 11/22/08

" People say it's about presidents sending the poor to fight for them, as they repeat those lines about 20 times, but they have other lines such as "everybody's going to the party, have a real good time. Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine" " They mean that everybody is going to the middle east and blowing shit up. Keep up with current events kthxbai

If it was possible to marry a song, this would be mine. or, perhaps, the lovechild resulting from my love with SOAD.

This song freaking pwns. XD

Yeah, before reading this, note that I'm a SOAD fan, and I'm not flaming. The guitar and singing (in all their songs) are amazing, the best I've seen, but admit it, their lyrics are subpar. "We're the prophetic generation of bottled water". Admittedly, this song has better lyrics than most of the other SOAD songs- "Attack, attack, attack with pesticide" (Attack), "Brand new spanking deals" (BYOB), and Fuck the System is almost 30% gibbrish. Also, BYOB actually has no real theme- it's random. People say it's about presidents sending the poor to fight for them, as they repeat those lines about 20 times, but they have other lines such as "everybody's going to the party, have a real good time. Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine" Anyway, like most SOAD songs, great guitar, great vocals, bad lyrics

it's not random at all! | Reviewer: Nielphine | 8/24/07

amazingly enough, i love this song exactly because it makes such a perfect sense, and hits the nail straight on the head... how can anyone say it doesn't make sense? keh... people with not sense of reality.

phenomenal | Reviewer: Jamie | 7/7/07

fantastic song leaving alot to personal interpretations using powerful lyrics and emotion and by the way it is "Dreaming not screaming"

wow | Reviewer: anarf | 6/14/07

it is my favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the ambiguous meanings, as Mark said
