Drag the Waters Lyrics - Pantera
Review The Song (5)
A smack on the wrists is the words from the mouth
of the outsiders, lawyers, police
A small price to pay for the dope and the guns
And the rape, it should all be O.K.
Your father is rich, he's the judge, he's the man,
he's the God that got your sentence reduced
But in the back of his mind, he well knows what
he'd find if he looked a little deeper in you - in you
Drag the waters some more
Like never before
Sweet is the slice and the lips - you're gonna have
that woman - she is your favorite lay
Promised you (swore) that no one had been there,
and she was going to keep it that way
sponsored linksLet it move in, you got thin, and got high, and
your money went and so did your friends
But she's by your side, and her smile cannot hide
the premonition of the beckoning end - the end
In with it, out with it

Interpreting music | Reviewer: B Plesa | 6/19/13
Look, everyone is going to hear/feel something different when they listen to music, there is no such thing as a wrong interpretation, at worst someone's interpretation will give you a window into what's troubling their mind at the time, at best someone could get close to what the composer was feeling/thinking of when he or she wrote it.
As for this song, it's obviously about making wrong choices due to not scratching the surface but taking things at face value (and even those words can be interpreted in a thousand different ways).
So please stop with the name-calling, it's childish, stupid and really has no use whatsoever.

J Cohen, you are the most pretentious person I've ever seen spilling their shitty wrong opinion on the internet.
Maybe take a moment to read the words and listen before you vomit your mental garbage over a nice page. Kill yourself, please.

Known by everyone, the compositor of every band of heavy metal thought about a specific idea while doing the song. Even do that, songs are never explained, specially because bands just don't want to explain them.
Why? The song may be done thinking of one or more specific topics but metal is not about rules or mindstream, it's about learning and living with the truth, no matter if it is about *the society (Thrash) or *ourselves (Nu) (*examples).
Learn, admire, enjoy and change. That's all what listeners should do or feel from/towards Heavy metal music.

This song deserves respect for the fact that it actually has a cowbell in the introduction of the song. That is hard to pull of in a song like this. It also, like many songs, gives a type of musical harmony. All songs, except for instramentals, are noted for the singers voice. The vocals are the most important. If the vocals are bad, the whole song is bad. That makes the vocals most important and I congratualte this song for the section of no vocals. Just musical harmony, giving respect the instraments by letting them be heard as well. It does not matter what genre of music this is. It gives respect to music, itself and it deserves my respect.
so often wrongly interpreted | Reviewer: Locomule | 9/6/10
I have found numerous reviews where people completely seem to miss the point of this song.
The lyrics are about how delving deeper into the criminal's psychology would reveal a far darker and more sinister personality than his light sentence would suggest. It also seems to be written about specific people and an event but who knows?
