Bob Dylan Don't Think Twice It's All Right Lyrics

Last updated: 03/06/2014 06:17:54 AM

Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
Even if you don't know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm a traveling on
But don't think twice, it's all right.

And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
But we never did too much talking anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right.

So it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
And it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinking and a-wond'rin' walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right.

So long honey, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
Goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't saying you treated me unkind
You could've done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right.

Don't Think Twice It's All Right | Reviewer: Chaplain Marilyn | 3/5/14

'Don't Think Twice It's All Right is an amusing song in which the key to his leaving seems to be that his soul (emotions, intellect & will) was not satisfied in his relationship with her. "She wanted my soul" is a clue that there may be a dominating Jezebel evil spirit that is trying to take control of what only, properly, belongs to the man and to the LORD - his soul!
A man of God will feel uncomfortable around that manifestation, unless he is called to remain and cast it out. Elijah ran from Queen Jezebel who had had 400 innocent men murdered and threatened his life, too. Later, Elijah prophesied in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit that conquered her. This story in the Holy Bible is how the "Jezebel spirit" got it's name. (It can manifest through a man, as well as a selfish, dominating, ungodly woman (someone with a Jezebel spirit may even kill her own unborn child because she did not choose to be pregnant at the time) The verse, "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right!" expresses that he doesn't want to stay. However, there is a bit of a struggle to leave the familiar, when he says, "I wish there was something you could do or say, to try to help me change my mind and stay." Immediately, he follows that with, "We never did do much talking any way - Don't think twice, it's all right." This expresses that he doesn't really believe there is anything she can do or say to work this out.
The Bible says in the beginning God made he them, male and female and called them Adam. While Adam slept, the Lord took a rib from his side and formed a woman. Then, when the Lord brought the woman to the man after he woke up. Adam said she is, "Bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called 'woman' because she is taken out of man. The Lord said that He created a woman to be a help meet to the man. To meet him where he needs help.
I believe that our purpose in life is what the Holy Bible teaches - for the LORD we were created. The LORD's plan for us is to change - to go from glory to glory being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ.
The most important thing we are to help each other with is to stay on that glory path so we will make heaven our home".He who endures till the end will be saved." When sweethearts have a disagreement if they decide ahead of time to find out what the Word of God has to say about it and try their best to do it, while remembering to pray for each other, maintaining love and forgiveness in their hearts. Then, this scripture in Ecclesiastes will come true'IT'S BETTER FOR TWO TO BE TOGETHER, THAN ONE. WHEN THE ENEMY COMES IN TWO WILL RESIST HIM. AND A THREEFOLD CHORD IS NOT EASILY BROKEN. (the 3rd One is the Holy Spirit based on the scripture "Where ever two or more are gathered in My name, I am in the midst of you..")
AND IF THEY FALL, THE ONE WILL HELP UP THE OTHER. BUT WOE TO HIM (HER) WHO IS ALONE. HE HAS NOT ANOTHER TO HELP HIM (HER) UP. *When the bible only uses the word "He" it often means mankind.
Conclusion: "Guard your heart, for out of it comes the issues of life." The wrong woman can be as "rotteness to his bones", But a marriage made in heaven between two believers can be a taste of heaven on earth.
Hope this helps somebody. *All quotes are dirivatives from the King James Holy Bible.

One of my favorite lines of all time | Reviewer: AgeOleSun | 3/3/14

"I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul"...this cuts to the core of nearly every unhealthy relationship. Really this line in the song is the only thing that reveals the character of the woman bob is singing about. In relationships gone bad, two people really start to erode each other's sense of individuality and personality. You loved someone because they were something without you. Then you're in the middle of it and for some reason you change who you are for them. But you can only change too much before the seams start to fall apart. A similar line is in paul simon's "slip slidin' away" where paul sings "My love for you's so overpowering, I'm afraid that I will disappear"...

Don't Think Twice It's All Right | Reviewer: Glory Cloud Revelation | 4/23/13

The Mark Twain straight talking country style lyrics are great and so much to the point there need be no explanation to understand what this one means. Therefore, the emphasis of this review will be to compliment the song writer for the way the words and the music flow, and to acknowledge what affect it may have on some of the listeners. The verse "When your rooster crows at the break of dawn...Look out your window and I'll be gone, You're the reason I'm traveling on", I liked to sing when I needed something to help give me strength to get out of a relationship that seemed to be going no where. Fight or flight, is an old saying. Back then, the grass looked greener on the other side. Nevertheless, I found out in life, that most of the time it's better to stand, and fight instead of running away. Being a Christian, the best weapons to use are the weapons of our warfare that are not carnal, but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds, taking up the whole armour of God as spoken of in Ephesians Chapter 6. True love never runs smooth. Life is full of troubles. In this world we shall have tribulation, Jesus said. But be of good cheer, because I have overcome so shall you. In another verse, it is said "I'm on the dark side of the road". Maybe his heart that he says he gave her, is telling him, he shouldn't go. Then, in the next line he says,"I wish there was somethin' you would do or say, to try to make me change my mind and stay". He doesn't really want to go. He wants her to stop acting like a child is hinted in
the verse "I once loved a woman, a child I'm told. I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul". apparently she needs to stop being so self-centered and say or do something to help him to feel loved, again. He's hurt. It's possible that she didn't mean to hurt him. Maybe the timing wasn't right, or maybe she didn't believe he really loved her.
What did he do to show his love for her to help her to trust and believe in him. It's not mentioned except I gave her my heart and time. Maybe she gave him her heart and time, too. Now, what are they a gonna do if she means it, too. "I love you, Don't think twice, it's all right", and kiss each other goodnight, would be a happy ending for this song.
