    Kurt wrote this song about his sister. Kurt thought his father was a stereotype. He was chauvanistic and always wanted Kim (cobains sister) to be a girl. His Dad also influenced a lot of his songs. When he was a child, Kurt would often do things that were not traditional male things just to spite his Dad.

    I think Kurt wrote this song to be a generalization for the the women in the world who have felt pressure from their fathers. He was incredibly sensitive to the Womans lyb, thing. Thats my theory

    whenever i think of this song I always think of Kut Cobain's child...I think he's reffering to her when he's singing this song. He wishes she'd been a son so what he does wouldn't hurt her as much.
