Bargain Lyrics - The Who

Review The Song (11)

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I had
To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad

I'd pay any price just to get you
I'd work all my life and I will
To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed

I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop

I'd pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man

I'd call that a bargain

The best I ever had
The best I ever had

I sit looking 'round
I look at my face in the the mirror
I know I'm worth nothing without you
In life one and one don't make two
One and one make one
And I'm looking for that free ride to me
I'm looking for you

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop

I'd pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man

I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had

Just another classic from an album where each song is a classic. IMO "Who's Next" is the greatest album of all time. You know it is great when you think the song "My Wife" is the best song on the album, and that song, along with "Love Aint for Keeping" are probably the two least played songs on the album.

Wedding Video | Reviewer: Toon | 6/1/13

This song was on our wedding video 24 years ago. It means what it means to the listener. Everyone at our wedding knew what it meant.Quite simply the most powerful love song ever written.

Not really. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/12/13

That's because the song isn't really a "lovesong", though it is labelled like one. It's about spiritual elevation. But yeah, it is great as a love song. Answering the guy who talked about "I'll be watching you".

Lyrics to rival " I'll be watching you " | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/12

I don't know why people label "I'll be watching you" as the creepiest love song, this one says,"to win you I'd stand naked stoned and stabbed." and "To find you I'm going to drown an unsung man." which is a "Bargain the best I'd ever had." That is total creepy desperation right there. Great song though

Wonderful Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/17/11

The Who have once again created a perfect balance between powerful, profound messages and a driving rock song. Townshend's songwriting drives to the heart of the matter for romance, spiritual enlightenment and honesty. The band never sounded better in the studio (thank Glyn Johns' production!!!) & hearing this song performed live is also a fantastic piece of artistry. From one of the best albums of all time, not just 1971.

Best of the Best | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/4/11

This is one of the best songs by the best rock and roll band ever. A love song that grips you and shows the depths love can take you, all while Moon tears up the drums in perfect accompaniment to Townsends guitar. Awesome.

Best ensemble playing | Reviewer: 515 | 12/21/10

The band is really tight (in a loose sort of way). The bass, guitar, and drums work together perfectly. A great example of why Moon was so right for this band.

It's about losing your material goods to achieve a higher state of spirituality.

That's why he says he is going to give up all he got, stay naked, surrender his good life for bad.

But yeah, they suit fine for somebody in love.

The best I ever HEARD XD | Reviewer: Diego Ugaz | 8/2/09

Actually this song was a tribute to Pete's mentor Meher Baba, who was his spiritual guru. Pete believed in his message of enlightenment, and this song is an ode to him (Baba) about losing all your material goods for spiritual revelation, thus a 'bargain'.

Awesome song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/16/09

I have loved this song since I first heard it back in 1971, as a skinny 16 year old. I remember I had a great big ole getto blaster, and when this came on WNEW FM, I was in heaven. What a great tune, with powerful lyrics. I still love the song today as much as I did back then!!!
Another great song from the same album is "My Wife".

When a man actually finds a not only a woman he likes, but an honest, good, true woman, a keeper...this song represents what he will do to get her, to win her over, to earn her as his own. If you cant sense the immense unending power behind this song, your soul is dead...awaken it. One of the all time greats from The Who. And even though its short, the power of the message it brings makes it an easy 9, maybe 10, out of 10.
