Astronomy domine Lyrics
Artist(Band):Pink Floyd
Review The Song (6)Print the Lyrics
Lime and limpid green
a second scene,
A fight between the blue
you once knew.
Floating down the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground
Jupiter and Saturn
Oberon Miranda and Titania
Neptune Titan
Stars can frighten...you

Blinding signs flap flicker flicker flicker
Blam pow pow
Stairway scare Dan Dare,who's there?

Lime and limpid green
The sound surrounds the icy waters under
Lime and limpid green
The sound surrounds the icy waters
Underground

Review about Astronomy domine

Trippy Shit | Reviewer: Leilenah | 9/9/2008

I think it's safe to say that this song if just about the trippiest song ever. When I first listened to it, I felt like I was on an acid trip. It's like I was walking on the sidewalk, and then all of a sudden I was levatating through a field of phsycadelia. It's great.

AHEAD OF THEIR TIME | Reviewer: Steve Skrobot | 6/15/2008

I am a long-term Pink Floyd fan. When I was about 12 I began seriously listing to all the great bands of the day, Beatles, Stones, Elton John, The Who, and, of course, Pink Floyd. But their music was decidedly different. At that young, tender age, though I understood little about the subject matter, the presentation, for eg., of an album like Dark Side of the Moon, caused me to feel that this band was in a category of its own, for the subject matter seemed to have a seriousness to it that was non-existent in the works of the other bands of the day. I was hooked. Astronomy Domine is the first cut on the first side of the first LP. It still has an ahead-of-its-time sound even today, as the genius of Barrett often seemed to transcend time and space altogether. Though Barrett never wrote deep material like Waters came to do in later years, he is still regarded as an especially gifted artist from the purely compositional viewpoint. Lyrics were poetic and thought-provoking rather than dogmatic or thematic, and to this day there is nothing quite like Syd Barrett at his best. Only Hendrix equalled him in prowess.

Incredible Song | Reviewer: Jaysin Hill | 11/21/2007

One of my top 5 Floyd songs if not #1. Voivod did a trippy cover of it in the 80's and actually sold a few albums thanks to this song. If you're a Floyd fan you must have this song!

Inspiration | Reviewer: David Suffield | 11/9/2007

Wonderfl composition; The album (especially lyrics and title) inspired Led Zeppelin for writing Stairway to heaven.

Syd will forever be missed. | Reviewer: Rebecca Ashley | 7/17/2007

I don't know how I lived before I heard this song...I love the astronomical feel. That is what is so cool about it...it's very psychadelic. Along with Echoes, Time, Learning to Fly, and Comfortably Numb, this is by far one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs! :) Love it.

Wow what a start | Reviewer: Dan Smith | 10/24/2004

This song (written by Syd Barret) was from Pink Floyd's first album Pipers At The Gates of Dawn and the song itself is a brilliant intro into any album with Roger Waters' bass riff cutting in from the start the sound effects add to the music as well making it sound even more astronomical and the song is astronomical for what they had at the time A+
