Review The Song (238)Print the Lyrics
Sparkling angel I believe
You were my savior in my time of need.
Blinded by faith I couldn't hear
All the whispers, the warnings so clear.
I see the angels,
I'll lead them to your door.
There's no escape now,
No mercy no more.
No remorse cause I still remember

The smile when you tore me apart.
You took my heart,
Deceived me right from the start.
You showed me dreams,
I wished they'd turn into real.
You broke a promise and made me realize.
It was all just a lie.

Sparkling angel, I couldn't see
Your dark intentions, your feelings for me.
Fallen angel, tell me why?
What is the reason, the thorn in your eye?
I see the angels,
I'll lead them to your door
There's no escape now
No mercy no more
No remorse cause I still remember

The smile when you tore me apart
You took my heart,
Deceived me right from the start.
You showed me dreams,
I wished they'd turn into real.
You broke a promise and made me realize.
It was all just a lie.
Could have been forever.
Now we have reached the end.

This world may have failed you,
It doesn't give you reason why.
You could have chosen a different path in life.

The smile when you tore me apart.
You took my heart,
Deceived me right from the start.
You showed me dreams,
I wished they'd turn into real.
You broke a promise and made me realize.
It was all just a lie.
Could have been forever.
Now we have reached the end.

Review about Angels

NOT Twilight... but... | Reviewer: Suzaku | 11/27/09

I don't see why you're equating this song with Twilight. If you take out any romantic undertones in this song, I believe it fits perfectly with Kratos and Lloyd in Tales of Symphonia. After all, Kratos joins the party under the pretense of helping them "regenerate" the world, but eventually betrays them and reveals that he's an angel working for the organization that wants to destroy all life on the planet. Seriously, it fits. I might even make an AMV to that extent.

Sad Face | Reviewer: Ashley | 11/25/09

This song is good, but i cry every time i hear it. I watched a video on utube with video cruelty and this was the song. If you love animals, donate 1$ or more because all the money counts.
For All Creatures, Great Or Small.

Utpoia | Reviewer: Archer | 10/1/09

I am not going to get involved in the debate. I love Angels and WT. I came to say that there is a new video by WT on youtube. Just go and type 'utopia within temptation' to find it. That's what I came to say.

Why do I keep seeing 'twilight' on the reviews??? | Reviewer: Random | 9/29/09

I don't knw why you guys are relating this song to twilight. I mean, I liked the first book but that was it. Bella was irritating, throwing her life like that. Anyway, this song is AWESOME. That's what matters. I don't think its demonic either. Its about betrayal and lots of people can relate to it. So, go WT!!! YOU ROCK!!

Another Christian Here | Reviewer: Chris | 9/18/09

Yep, I LOVE Within Temptation. There's nothing evil about their music. There's always a message, and frequently it's a positive one, or one about dealing with or overcoming something. I can't stand when people get overzealous and wind up breaking the rules they say they subscribe to. It gives us a bad name! Yes, there is music out there that is "Bad," but use a little discernment before being judgmental and smearing a group or a genre!

Broken | Reviewer: alexis | 8/17/09

well, I used to love this song. Now it just reminds me of an Internet relationship I got into with someone when I was twelve. it's just how she talks about faith and being betrayed, and the dreams he put into her mind that she wishs were real. I doubt that is the actual meaning of the song, but it works well. it has nothing to do with Satan, it's about being broken and betrayed. then again what would a thirteen year old know?

Wow.... | Reviewer: zStarrGazerz | 8/3/09

Okay well I listened to this song and lets just say I am a very God loving person and I didn't get Satan trying to get me to worship him....all I got was a beautiful written song about a broken heart, crying out for someone to see and believe her of this mans evil ways. Does Satan come in there? uhhh think not! to me I don't like how people put themselves into a group and then Biatch about how others make fun of them...solution, don't put yourself into a group and just enjoy being yourself!
DianFire you made me laugh so hard, everything you say is spot on! Because I come from a church that says you can only listen to Godly written music and yada yada. All I can think of is, well how can I be myself if I am told to always stay inside the box? hmmm...good question isn't it. I see it as you can worship God or whoever you believe in and still listen to any kind of music you want. Like people who are Wicca don't burst into flames because they listen to a Christian song and vice versa with Christians and "satanic" songs. To me saying the song is satanic is a little overrated. That's like screaming out for attention. To me all songs are written beautifully and have a true meaning, you just half to open up your minds and just look passed all the crap people try to make music out to be.
So enjoy your music and enough of the twilight crap. I read the books and have read many other authors of vampire books and lets just say Stephanie Meyers is in the lower class of a writer, because honestly the first time I started Twilight I was bored out of my mind, I only finished the series because I never stop a series until its finished. Read some of Colleen Gleason or Kim Harrison or my absolute Favorite Laurell K Hamilton! these authors will blow your socks off as to me Stephenie Meyers was just a silent fart in the breeze :D!

Goodness gracious... | Reviewer: Joshua Z. | 7/15/09

This song has the greatest number of reviews I've seen on this site so far, all because someone mentioned Twilight, and (probably) someone else Satan.
Ah well, so long as WT gets the publicity, I don't care. Anyone know how to find the songs with large amounts of reviews?

Angels is an amazing song! Haha I love the music video.

Lin: If you like Angels, I seriously recommend the song The Heart of Everything, along with Jane Doe, See Who I Am, and Our Solemn Hour. (Or you could just buy the album Heart of Everything... it's a lovely album.)

...wow... | Reviewer: chaosonyxangel | 7/6/09

Seriously, people. Let's stop looking at the song with all the satanic themes and christianity, and especially not from the Twilight perspective. Get a life.

It seems pretty simple to me. She's referring to this guy as an angel because he 'saved' her, whether literally or emotionally, we can't really know. Later in the song she's basically saying that he only saved her to earn her trust and then betray it. Finally, it comes into perpective that she's not going to let him get away with it; she knows what he did and why, and she won't let him hurt anyone else. It's all an analogy.
