This is what I and many others go through, and Demon Hunter nails it right on the spot again. I personally struggle with "bad habits", and I give in to Satan's bribes and scams, followed with guilt and pain in a seemingly endless cycle, for now.
But he can't win because the deal has already been done, and I was already purchased with blood.
This song is about that critical weakness, and despite us giving into those temptations and scams at times, God is still victorious and the demonics are still powerless.
And no Avenged Sevenfold is not Christian.

Avenged seven fold is Christian it's a biblical reference to revenge to the seventh power but these guys r awesome I like storm the the gates of hell it gives me an image of god and his angels knocking on the devils front door. Lol

Christianity is all for men and nothing for women, it breeds misogyinitic vile breed of guys whom think women are there to serve their needs. I hate bands like this wanting to bring vengence on women when it is the hatred for the non believer or women that is so strong. YOu are breeding a hatred instead of acceptance or tolerance for those of different beliefs or women who don't want to procreate or people who are non believers. You are very anti chrisitian in your "hatred" and quote "vengence" for the "weak". I think this is an underground movement that should shut the fuck up and leave everyone to live freely in this world together without judgement and to accept all other faiths and non faiths!!

iv always liked heavy metal, before i found bands like demon hunter, under oath and red i was listening to stuff like avenged sevenfold and all that remains, i really don't think that music was doing me any good, i only discovered these bands after listening to the message one night, and i just thank god that there is bands like this out there!

This song tells about the power that the devil utilizes to draw us into his way of thinking, and away from our faith in God. The title ’A Broken Upper Hand’ refers to the weakness that the devil suffers in an attempt to destroy our relationship with Christ. Even though the devil may have an upper hand on our thoughts and actions from time to time, we, with the power of God, have the ability to resist these temptations and remind the devil of his brokenness in contrast to the power of God.

I dated a guy that I thought that I really loved and it just turned out that he was just using me and everythang else and everythang that he said and everythang he done I loved him for now when some other guy does the same thang it kills me because I know that is what he done when we dated and he done it for me and now I know he don't really care... This song is just so good and reminds me of him and of all the thangs I wish I knew about him because revenge would be sweet but I cain't... I think I still love him...
