The Wombles Wombling Merry Christmas Lyrics

Last updated: 12/30/2012 06:33:21 AM

We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.

Open your eyes,
Look to the skies when you're lonely,
There will be stars shining for you.
Sleepers Awake!
It's getting late, snow is falling,
The whole wide world is Wombling too.

All day long
We will be Wombling in the snow,
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.
All day long
We will be laughing as we go
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.

Under the ground
There is the sound of a symphony.
The lights are low,
The fire is bright.
Wombling through,
I'll tune in to you, you tune in to me,
We'll send you a message into the night.

All day long
We will be Wombling in the snow,
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.
All day long
We will be laughing as we go
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.

All day long
We will be Wombling in the snow,
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.
All day long
We will be laughing as we go
We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas.

The Wombles are a British novelty pop group, featuring musicians dressed as the characters from children's TV show The Wombles, which in turn was based on the children's book series by Elisabeth Beresford. Songwriter and record producer, Mike Batt, wrote the series' theme tune, and went on to perform and produce a number of successful albums and singles as 'The Wombles'. British Hit Singles & Albums jokingly referred to them as the "furriest (and possibly the tidiest) act... are natives of Wimbledon Common, London". The band's reunion was officially announced in May 2011. From Wikipedia

The Wombles have debuted the music video for their new festive single exclusively on Digital Spy.

The children's character favourites will re-release their classic hit 'Wombling Merry Christmas' as a potential contender for this year's festive number one.

The updated version will be available to download from December 12 and intends to give this year's X Factor winner some friendly competition.

Uncle Bulgaria previously explained: "I don't watch much television myself - I leave that to the young Wombles - but I hear The X Factor is jolly popular, However, W comes before X.

"Let's see what people think of the W Factor! It should appeal to the common people. We think everyone needs to have a Wombling Merry Christmas this year."

'Wombling Merry Christmas' originally reached number two on the UK singles chart back in 1974.

The Wombles will also face competition from the cast of The Only Way Is Essex and their rendition of 'Last Christmas'.
